Product Description
The Kata CRC-15 (RC-15) Compact Rain Cover provides protection against dirt, dust and sudden showers. The RC-15 is made for camcorders such as; Sony HDR-FX1 or HVR-Z1 and similar camera models. The cover is made from weatherproof polypropylene and provides a quick easy set-up even when mounted on a tripod. You can work with the LCD monitor with the rain cover on. The RC-15 has quick pull drawstrings to secure the cover to the camcorder. It has a clear vinyl window to view LCD screen.

I bought this for a Sony HDR-FX1 and it fits very nicely. Shooting video in New Orleans means always being prepared for rain, so I keep this rain jacket in my case at all times. It goes on quickly and protects everything except the glass filter on the lens and the rubber eyepiece around the viewfinder. The video monitor can be a bit difficult to flip open once the rain cover is in place, but the viewfinder remains unobstructed. Aside from protecting your camera from the rain, it is indispensable when shooting in restaurant kitchens (which I do a lot) where grease hangs in the air just waiting to attach itself to your expensive rig! I would also use it if I were shooting on construction sites or any place else where dust and dirt are in the air.

I bought this for my Sony Z5U and have no problems using it. The initial thought was to protect it from the rain, but I also use it to protect the camera against dust. Good quality at a fair price.

I have used other cheaper rain protectors including plastic bags. I am glad that I found this one on line with Amazon. This is doing exactly what I want it to do while filming outside sporting events(soccer, football, lacrosse, baseball and softball). I get maximum protection on the camcorder and have the ability to access all the electronic controls of my Sony FX7.
