4.0 out of 5 stars Great Water Bottle
I really like this water bottle. I get sick, at times, after drinking water that may not have been too clean, but I don't when using this bottle. I used it on a cruise My Husband and I took and never got sick. I would definately recommend it to my friends and family. My only suggestion is that it should have a cover over the mouth piece (which can come into contact with...

1.0 out of 5 stars False ADVERTISING, BEWARE!!!

If you take a look below-you will notice that the product CLAIMS to ELIMINATE bacteria, protozoa, and VIRUSES. However, when my bottle arrived, there was a sticker inside the bottle. The sticker was a disclaimer that the bottle ONLY eliminates cyst and bacteria. In order to eliminate VIRUSES, I will have to purchase the "katadyn VIRUSTAT purification cartridge...

I used it on a cruise My Husband and I took and never got sick. I would definately recommend it to my friends and family. My only suggestion is that it should have a cover over the mouth piece (which can come into contact with anything when being carried around). Not having a mouth piece cover kinda defeats the purpose of having a filter water bottle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Filtered water bottle, March 19, 2008
This review is from: Katadyn Micro Microfilter Water Bottle (Sports)
I really appreciate this product, and the piece of mind it gives me. I know it's designed for campers, but I use it at work. I was really tired of buying bottles of water, but being pregnant I just couldn't trust the tap water. With the water in D.C. being found to contain all sorts of chemicals and pharmaceutical, it's nice to have a way to get decent water when I'm out. The only reason I'm giving this four stars instead of five is (1) because of the large filter, it doesn't hold as much water as I'd like, (2) it's pricey and (3) it tends to leak sometimes when I squeeze it. Overall, I'm glad to have it, but probably should have bought the next model up with a larger reservoir.

The sticker was a disclaimer that the bottle ONLY eliminates cyst and bacteria. In order to eliminate VIRUSES, I will have to purchase the "katadyn VIRUSTAT purification cartridge system." I will be in rural villages for a few months, outside the united states. I am leaving very soon, and if I had the time to return this product, I SURELY WOULD. This is FALSE ADVERTISING. Take a look for yourself. PLEASE, BE AWARE if you purchase this product.

The ease of use and simple rugged construction belies the high technology of this water purification system. It's design is also compact making storage and portability a major positive consideration. I bought this item for my 84 y.o. mother for her emergency respone kit (which everyone should have as part of their Homeland Defense supplies). Just the week before this purchase a major water line burst denying the entire community water for several days. Didn't need it this time, but who knows about the next emergency? Sure, the money spent could have purchased several cases of bottled water, but try lugging that water around if you need to move--impossible for the elderly. We feel much safer now knowing that water can be obtained and purified from almost any source. Pricey, yes, but worth it considering the alternatives. No, I do not work for or own stock in Katadyn. :-)

I bought this to bring to work with me and to avoid buying bottled water all the time. It has already paid for itself considering I no longer have to buy bottled water. It is light, stays clean, and does a good job filtering.

I bought one of these last year. On my last trip out to the boonies, I filled it with water from the Fremont River in Utah and drank. No problems, no ill effects. Some people complain that they have to squeeze the bottle to drink- oh my, the poor dears. You have to squeeze, because you are forcing water thru 2 different filter mediums.

Good product.

We used this bottle on a trip to
Asia. It was easy to use. We
can not vouch for the effectiveness,
but we had no ill effects from the
water that was filtered by the
bottle.

The product seems to do what it claims, but after sucking and squeezing like crazy to get the water out I ditched it for a brita pitcher. If I go kayaking and have limited space I'll take this along, but only if I can't take my regular wilderness filter.
