Kate Earl's new CD is packed with a wide range of sounds: some fun shh-bop nods to the 60s, some soulful ballads, some torch songs. Her voice is lovely and never outdone by the instrumentals. Check out the lyrics as you listen; this girl is a storyteller. Looking forward to the next collection!

Slick, mellow, yet oddly intense soft rock. Her melodies and rhythms are addictive. The lyrics are personal and thought provoking enough to keep one interested,... and I just like the sound of her voice. While some songs are better than others, there isn't a bad apple in the barrel, which is a HUGE difference between Kate and most other female artists in this genre. I'm truly glad I happened onto her.

Two people that Kate Earl probable hates hearing about are Sarah Palin and Jewel as the newcomer is also from Alaska and those two are the only people to make a name for themselves in Continental US since Steward's Folly unless you are a basketball fan that knows Carlos Boozer is also from the state. Like Jewel, Earl is a singer-songwriter and no she has never spent anytime living in a car. And Earl's self titled album definitely isn't some coffeehouse fair like her Alaskan predecessor.

Kate Earl should fit in pretty well with the other female singer-songwriters of the decade with songs like Melody fitting perfectly between the latest from Coblie Caillet and Sara Bareilles, but Earl has an music appreciation that seems to date back to the girl groups of the sixties as Only in Dreams could have fit on the radio back in the sixties between Diana Ross and Martha Reeves with Earl paying tribute to doo-wop in the middle of Melody. Basically Earl sounds like Cat Power had she ever cared about pop sensibilities.

But Kate Earl is plenty diverse, besides the present day pop hook of Melody and classic sound of Only in Dreams, All I Want and When You're Ready have heavy dance beats to them. Nobody and Can't Treat Me That Way are sleek songs that could fit in at the local cabaret. Golden Street is a clap heavy jam with a great synth groove to it and Learning to Fly sounds like an updated version of The Wall of Sound. While Impossible is your token girl anthem for the album. All the while with the introspective lyrics that are as good as any of her contemporaries. Soon we may have a third Alaskan for us in the lower forty-eight to point to.

This album was surprisingly great. I had only heard the song "Nobody"
online and loved it. Bought the whole album and was not disappointed.

Great CD... but it was very techno-ish, which is quite opposite her first CD. But, still a good time!

This album is great, from the first song to the last. I'm listening to all the songs, and there isn't a single one that's a filler. My favorites are: "All I want," "When you're ready," "Melody," and "Golden Street." But really, I actually like all of them :) So glad I bought this album -- not disappointed.

I downloaded a free song "Melody", which I really liked, so I sampled the whole album and then bought it. Kate Earl has a beautiful voice and the whole album sounds great. As I listened to the songs, I realized she is also a mature, intelligent song writer. I've played this album in the background when friends come over and people want to know who is that playing, she sounds so good! My suggestion, try one song or sample the songs, because if you enjoy it, you will like the whole album. In my opinion, what makes her stand out amoung similar artists is how good her songs are and how consistently good the album is.

This is Kate's best work yet in my humble opinion. The album is truly addictive and I can't take it out of my player. Kate is an amazing singer and song writer. Her songs make you feel like you are right there. Emotions run deep and you'll find no cliches here. This album has a very big feel to it. The album is a must for any music lover's collection.

Kate, I love your new album. You are a one-off original. People like you really make our World shine!

I picked up a free download of the song called "melody" at i-tunes. Didn't get a chance to listen to it right away. When I did I just had to hear more. I downloaded the album that track called "melody" came from off of Amazon. I was very happy I did as there is not a weak/filler song on this cd. After listening to her music for better than a week I did what a lot of other people probably did, I went out and bought her first cd too!

Hope her music career is long and fruitful as her melodies just rock and her voice is the very best.
