I bought this CD after hearing this band's song, "Faster than Cars". What a pleasant surprise! Every song is enjoyable. Kate Tucker has this marvelous, melancholy about her lyric, an emotive voice and the music is solid behind her.
I also bought Kate Tucker's solo work, "Eros Turannos" and have enjoyed that as well. My vocabulary fails me when I try to write something about music that I really enjoy and I have no one, really, to compare them/her besides maybe Neko Case or maybe White Magic. Check em out.

I first heard this great new Northwest Band on a Starbuck's compilation Cd which featured "Faster than Cars Drive."I fell in love with the sweet vocals and accomplished music of Kate and her back up musicians, the Sons of Sweden. After looking them up on the internet, I was delighted to find they had an album out and that Amazon had it. If you are a fan of alternative rock, you would love this CD. The group has echoes of Billie Holiday and Portishead, but is uniquely its own sound. I am predicting great things for their future.

Great CD. Heard her first on the local "acoustic sunrise" series in the bay area and glad I bought the whole cd.

This is a truly special indie effort. Kate Tucker and producer Ryan Hadlock spin a web of heartfelt, melodic tracks that are certain to satisfy. Absolute indie poetry, captivating and emotionally reverberating. Rarely does something this sonically rewarding come along this day in age. Don't hesitate.

I am usually bored by seattle indie bands-heard one, heard 'em all.
THIS is different. Kate has such a delicate, soothing voice, with a hard to pigeonhole niche-not quite folk, not quite rock-she is reasonably insightful in her lyrics, her playing and arranging add just enough nuance and variety to make this a 4.9 star record. It is rare when I hear a record that I like virtually ALL of on the second listen... The production values are excellent. This girl has a future. The CD case is rather curious-be careful of scuffing your disc. |
