Book Description

June 1, 2006
Interweaving elements of mystery and suspense with a message of hope, Linda Hall's seventh novel brings healing to those wounded by legalism in the church. In Katheryn's Secret, mystery writer Sharon Colebrook finds herself the unexpected recipient of her deceased Aunt Katie's journals -- and hopes to learn about a murder Katie had hinted at years before. But as Sharon and her husband, Jeff, begin to investigate, the carefully kept facade of her strict religious family begins to crumble. Secrets, long buried, begin to surface -- and only God's grace can put this family back together again.

A murder mystery...A fractured family...Evil intentions. Can one woman pull the pieces together?

When Sharon Colebrook was a child, she listened to all of eccentric Aunt Katie's whimsical, half-true stories. But it's the unfinished tale of a murder that intrigues her most. After her aunt dies, Sharon, now a successful mystery writer, decides to write Katie's life story. Her research uncovers the strict, religious family's secrets, and its carefully kept facade begins to crumble. What fears haunt Doreen, the family's longtime maid? Was there a murder — and who was behind it? What has happened to Dean, Sharon's errant brother? In the end, only God's grace can put this family back together again.

More About the Author

Welcome to my amazon page! I hope you will browse my list of books. Almost all of my books are available for your Kindle, so load up your Kindle with lots of good reading! If you like mystery, thriller or romantic suspense, you've come to the right place.

Most of my novels have something to do with the sea. I grew up near the ocean and my love of the ocean was born when I was a child. When I was a little girl I remember sitting on the shore and watching the waves and contemplating what was beyond. I could do that for hours.

One of the things my husband and I enjoy is sailing. In the summer we basically move aboard our 34' sailboat aptly named - Mystery.

Both my husband Rik and I have achieved the rank of Senior Navigator, the highest rank possible in CPS. The U.S. sister organization is the U.S.P.S. My Senior Navigator diploma hangs proudly on my office wall.
What this all means is that I know how to use a sextant and can 'theoretically' find my way home by looking at the stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars a mystery within a mystery..., June 7, 2000
This is a great fiction book that deals with so many true-life issues. Sharon is a mystery writer who is called back home after her aunt's death to go through the house and settle the estate. However, the estate cannot be completely settled until her brother, whom no one has heard from in 25 years, is found. Sharon also must deal with her estranged father, whose narrow religious views have turned her totally against religion. Sharon also plans to solve a probable murder (which her aunt had vaguely referred to--was she serious or making it up?) that is more than fifty years old while she is there. Take these elements, add old friends whose religous views make Sharon uncomfortable, a family scandal long since covered up, a haunted house, a "crazy" housekeeper, and a prodigal daughter, and you have a great novel! I recommend this book for any mystery fan, secular or Christian, and for anyone who has ever felt constrained by "rules" of the Christian faith.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Tale of Three Mysteries:Kathryn's Secret, March 25, 2000

This book is a must-read for mystery fans, for people who enjoy multi-layered stories and even for anyone who has had faith, lost faith or is looking for faith. Linda Hall really know how to build a story and to keep the suspense high. Add to that the fact that she does her research and writes with real honesty and this book is a winner. This is one to buy, not just to borrow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Her Best Book Yet, May 30, 2000

Linda Hall has done it again! This book is sure to be a best seller! Katheryn's Secret is a weaving of suspence and intrigue. Right when you think you're on the right trail, she throws in another twist. Anyone who loves a great mystery will love this book. It's a tale about family secrets, the effects of a legalistic, religeous upbringing and how God can work through the misguided mistakes of family. It's about love, lost love and love rekindled. Linda shows us--without being preachy--the difference of being religeous and having the love of God in our hearts, where we learn to love others. Her characters are real and well developed, as is the plot. By the time you finish this story, you may find that you identified with one or two of her characters and hopefully--learn from their mistakes.
