5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have!
Every female in my family has "lower body problem". I have inherited it as well. No matter what my mom, aunt or cousins did, it never worked... I thought I can't change it, but still exercised for overall health. I sort of accepted the fact, and learned to live with it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Left me wanting more
First, if you are an advanced exerciser, you will quickly get bored with this one. This is definately a video for beginners. Also, I was bored because of the lack of motivation and the repetition of the same moves over and over again. The tape is split into two segments. The first is suppose to be less advanced than the second. Both segments were pretty low on the...

Every female in my family has "lower body problem". I have inherited it as well. No matter what my mom, aunt or cousins did, it never worked... I thought I can't change it, but still exercised for overall health. I sort of accepted the fact, and learned to live with it.
I have a "perfect pear" body shape, which means very small upper body and heavy lower body. Here is what I did over the years trying to improve the shape:

1) Diet - does not work in this situation. My upper body got smaller, which made my lower body look even bigger.

2) Jogging - gave me overall strength, but it does not really target the specific area.

3) Gym - I used to go 4 times a week, using all the "lower body" equipment. It did not give me anything but sore muscles.

Does this sound familiar? If it does - this tape is a "must have"!
The tape consists of two 10-minute workouts: one for beginners and one for advanced. And you will never grow out of it: I started with beginners workout, when that got too easy, I moved to advanced, then did both of them together, then I used 3 pound weights with it, now I am at doing advanced workout with 5 pound weights. I will never give up this tape!

It's short, which makes it easy to combine with other cardio workouts. I did it in a combination with 30-40 minute cardio workout, five times a week. It's only an hour a day, 5 times a week! But the results are unbelievable! My friends were so shocked, they though I had a liposuction done. I am not kidding!
This workout really does work! If you are like me, tried everything, and losing weight for you means that your lower body looks even bigger... this tape is definitely the way to go! I strongly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars EFFECTIVE!, August 29, 1999

If you're looking for a workout video to target your lower body - this is the one! This is one area that has always been a big problem for me regardless of how much I exercise - with this video I saw definate results. Although I already felt I was in good shape, this video made me feel even more fit and strong. Although they take some balance, for the most part the exercises are quick and easy to do - just prepare yourself to be very sore the first few days - like I've said, IT'S EFFECTIVE!

5.0 out of 5 stars a really "doable" tape, March 17, 1999

OK, so I'm the kind of person that buys every new fitness book, tape, magazine etc, and then get bored of it after a week.

This tape is not so long, so you don't spend half your session waiting for it to end. Her instructions are clear, the moves are easy to modify, you don't need any equipment-it's wonderful!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast workout and fast results!, July 3, 2004
By A Customer
I really love this workout. It has a quick warm-up (that really warms you up and should probably be called a mini-workout) and then two 12 minute workouts. I need things that are short on time, but this tape kicks my butt in that twelve minutes! It's challenging and fun, and I saw results very fast. I'd recommend it to anyone, and have been raving about it to friends and family. Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for beginners and intermediates!, March 6, 2000

I am 23, and not completely out of shape, but the first of two 10 minute workouts is certainly not easy, and my buns and thighs are sore 2 days later. All of the exercises are for the buns and legs, no abs! Also, all of the exercises are standing.

5.0 out of 5 stars great for lower body, September 23, 2003
By A Customer
Kathy Smith's Functionally Fit videos are fun and effective! This one expands more of the toning exercises in Funct. Fit Peak Fat Burning. Everything Kathy promises about this video is true, it will help you tone and shape your lower body. I gave birth to 3 children in 3.5 years and it has helped me get back into shape - for my everyday life - and beautifully shaped my buns and thighs. The exercises are fun and interesting so you don't get bored and not too dancy or complicated. You will want to compliment this workout with some cardio and something for abs and then you'll have a great diverse workout! From my experience I would NOT use this (2-3 times weekly) with the Functionally Fit Peak Fat Burning workout (3 times weekly) because they work many of the same muscles. I would alternate them with some of Kathy's other cardio workouts like her Personal Trainer DVD or Timesaver Cardio Fat Burner. Hope that helps! :o)

5.0 out of 5 stars Still My Favorite!, July 8, 2003
By
This review is from: Kathy Smith - Functionally Fit - Lower Body Firming [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I've owned this tape for several years, and while I have over a dozen exercise videos from various instructors, this is one of two that I keep coming back to on a regular basis.

Kathy Smith is the best. She keeps proper count of her repetitions (I hate when they lose count and leave you feeling lop-sided), she offers do-able alternatives for beginners, and she motivates without using that condescending tone some others employ.

The tape relies heavily on squats, which I dreaded at first (I was completely out of shape). However, after Kathy teaches you how to do a proper squat (weight on the heels--like you're sitting down), it does get easier.

I think it should be explained that the difference between the first segment and the second isn't the number of repetitions or speed. In the first segment you do each exercise first on one leg, then on the other. This gives each leg a rest during each exercise. In the second segment you go through all the exercises on one leg without a rest, then start over on the other leg. This is what makes it more difficult. Still, it's not so difficult that you should be afraid to give it a try if you're a beginner.

I was amazed at how much pain I felt after this short tape. Some times I do an aerobics tape and only half of this tape and I always feel it. Its tougher than any of the longer lower body tapes I have.I like that you can do half or if your feeling really ripped you can do the whole tape.

I am a mother and do not have time to go to the gym. I have seen definite results from this video. The video is short and really focuses on the areas that I needed to be focused on: the butt, thighs and quads. This is a video you can memorize the moves to and do while out of town. It is repetitive but this is what I liked about it. Buy this video if you want to see results in a few weeks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kicks Butt, May 5, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love this DVD. You can just do the warmup (which does get the blood moving), 1st workout, and cooldown (good for beginners)or do the whole routine for a more intense workout. Either way you definately will feel your lower half the next day! Kathy gives good instruction and the moves are easy to follow. It also feels like an aerobic workout as well with the flow from one set of movements to the next. For those of you who don't like to exercise (like me) you will love how fast it goes. Just when I think I can't do anymore. . .it's over!
