This review is from: Katie, the Kitten Fairy (Rainbow Magic, Pet Fairies, No. 1) (Mass Market Paperback)
These books are great for 6 year old girls. I order a few every time my daughter brings home a book order from school. She often sits down and reads them cover to cover. You might want to start with the first of these series... the rainbow fairies, starting with "Ruby the Red fairy", which introduces the characters.

Imagination To Treasure,
This review is from: Katie, the Kitten Fairy (Rainbow Magic, Pet Fairies, No. 1) (Mass Market Paperback)
Having read the very first book in the Rainbow Magic Series Ruby the Red Fairy, I think the series has grown into a better read. It is now more of a adventure then a watered down learning experience for young children. Not to say that there is nothing to learn from the books I just feel this has more to treasure. There is much more imagination in this beginning of the pet series.
Still for the younger end of the chapter book levels but pleasant to read.

This review is from: Katie and the Missing Kitten: v. 2 (Paperback)
My 5 1/2 yr old has been enjoying the Daisy Meadows Rainbow Magic series since this past fall, we have so many collections now. Her very favorite book was the first one in the Pet Rescue series...Katie the Kitten Fairy and her cat Shimmer. So, when we saw that they made a new book all about Katie, my daughter pleeded with me to buy it ASAP! I tried explaining to her it was a "you choose" book but I still don't always think she understands that, as she would get mad at me when I would skip pages to follow the instructions, she kept telling me to just read the book in order :). I would read the page and then give her the 2 options, and she would pick one, we have read it twice with 2 different endings now, she told me "it was the strangest book you have ever read to me". That doesn't mean we didn't like it, but maybe due to her age, it was not what she was expecting and definatly not her favorite. Its a cute book like all the rest in the series, but I think from now on, at least until she is older, we will stick to the straight forward regular reading books.

Great for a strong reader age 5-6.,

Now with over 80 books in the series, these are fabulous for a young reader. The content gets very 'samey' but girls just lap it up. Short chapters, easy on the eye print and usually a picture per page, the format rarely varies. A highly successful series which my 5 year old eagerly devours!

A Book Review,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Katie, the Kitten Fairy (Rainbow Magic, Pet Fairies, No. 1) (Mass Market Paperback)
Katie the Kitten Fairy by Daisy Meadows is about one the seven pet fairies. Her pet fairy's name is Shimmer. Jack Frost, an evil fairy, wanted a magical pet of his own, but in Fairyland, a magical pet chooses it's owner. Not one chose Jack, though. So he stole them all. Although they all escaped, they are now running all over Earth!
Kirsty and Rachael are cousins who have the ability to know and see fairies! They see a strange kitten in the park one day and knew today would be a fairy day. Can Rachael and Kirsty get all the pet fairies back before Jack and his Goblins do? Read The Pet Fairy Series by Daisy Meadows to find out! My favorite part was the beginning. Rachael and Kirsty discovered the magic kitten. But the goblins were after them. To read the end and the continued books, look for Daisy Meadow in your library.

My 6 year old daughter is in 1st grade and loves this book series. She catches herself reading longer than the required time for her homework. I'm all for her being interested in reading and not just any reading but good stories for her age. I'm amazed she started reading these chapter books in Kindergarten. She also loves animals. There is also a series for colors (which we also have) and weather (which she's getting for Christmas).

I gave these to my surrogate granddaughter. She is only 5 so she is not reading well yet. Hopefully her big sister read them to her.
