Product Description

A debut novel that reaches below the surface and touches the reader on psychological and spiritual levels. This story portrays the longings of a girl born into the "seedier side" of life, with its promiscuity, addictions and poverty. When Katie finds herself pregnant, her hard-living mother, Daria, pressures her to get an abortion.

As Katie attempts to move on with her life and start a career, her past haunts her. She finds herself loved by a young man and welcomed by his family, who aren't perfect but are living in the freedom of grace. Can she listen to that voice of grace calling in her dreams, forgive herself and let herself be loved?

She thought she had chosen freedom and a future; but shame and regret haunt her and keep her inner life a closed book even to the man she loves. Love, truth and grace pursue Katie, though, until her defenses finally crumble.

This moving tale of redemption chronicles an emotional journey out of self-loathing and spiritual denial into hope and life-changing love.

4.0 out of 5 stars Katie's Choice, November 25, 2004
History seems to be repeating itself when Katie finds herself pregnant. Her own mother, Daria, faced a similiar choice after a brief, passionate affair, and chose to keep her child- Katie herself. Now, Daria urges Katie to abort as the smart thing to do. Her decision to obey tears her world in two, haunting her and altering the way she deals with life. Sure that she herself was a mistake, guilty over killing her child, Katie feels that there is no hope for her- but friends who love her against the odds and despite all the barriers give her a chance to begin again with Christ.

**** While most Christian novels are filled with nothing but "good" people who would never make the choices Katie did, this one takes the bold move to acknowledge that "good" people still sin. If the abortion figures are accurate, then there are millions of young women who could benefit from this book. ****

This book was great. Mrs. Langford can paint such an amazing picture with words. I, too, felt Katie's pain while reading. The ending moved me to tears. This book made me really proud to be a Christian in this world!

More About the Author

Tracey Langford lives with her husband, Jon, and their four children in Alabama. Their children are quadruplets - two boys and two girls - and homeschooling them is keeping Tracey busy these days. Ideas for future novels are brewing, though. In the future she will no doubt tackle other "dark" subjects with engrossing, hope-filled fiction.

Tracey's debut novel, award-winning KATIE'S CHOICE, reveals her depth of understanding and empathy for human emotions, longings, dreams and spirituality. The novel was inspired by a song that Tracey wrote with her singer/songwriter husband: "Her Name Is Katie" recorded on the CD "BeyondThat".

Tracey has been a high school English teacher and a youth worker.
