REVIEW:

1940 WWII, the book, KATIE'S HERO takes a journey with the lives of Lord Michael Farrenden. Farrenden is struggling to face his disability as an injured RAF pilot. We also have Katie Rafferty, from Ireland trying hard to forget her past and start fresh. Katie works as a child's maid to four evacuees. She ends up in Hertfordshire which is Michael's family estate, Farrenden Manor. Michael can't fight for his country anymore so he offers refuge to four boys. Michael and Katie have this attraction for each other from the beginning but there are things which need to be resolved before they can go any further. A lover from Katie's past, Tom O'Brien shows up things rather uncomfortable. The children were interesting to follow. and the romance with Michael and Katie kept me turning those pages. The story shows how love can heal. I would recommend this book to anyone. It goes through a lot of emotions, situations and places. And then there is love. Love that everyone searches for. Searches for that right person to love and be loved by. Love is a complex emotion and we have to sometimes, struggle to get it right.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author, for this unbiased review.

I would give this book a solid 5 STARS.

The cover is quite nice too.

This book was a wonderful love story. Michael had been in an accident that left him in a wheelchair. Katie comes to take cars of children displaced by WW II. She looks past his injury and they fall in love. I really enjoyed this book. When I read it I could hardly put it down; because of this it seemed to end to quickly

Katie's Hero by Cody Young
Katie Rafferty leaves Ireland to go to London during war time. Choices she made didn't leave her many options. She was blessed to find a position out of London with a wealthy lord who was taking in some orphans and needed a caretaker for the children. She was ready to leave London and it's memories behind her. Even if it meant putting up with a surly lord, a handsome surly lord at that.

Lord Michael Farrenden was once a zealous man but now he confined to a wheelchair, looking up to people of lower stations than his own. He would do anything to walk again and go back to flying his Hurricane in the war. Now that the beautiful Miss Rafferty is in his home the desire to have what he lost is even stronger. And how did he get talked into taking four mischievous urchins into his home?

Cody once again writes a story that grips the readers heart. Bringing to life four young children who each have a unique personality. A man who cannot feel whole without the use of his legs....a woman who was not good enough for one man and now finds herself in a position of being a servant to another one. The grief of wartime and yet finding joy in the tough times by giving security to those who have less.
**Sexual situations

Set against the backdrop of 1940 (WWII), Katie's Hero follows the lives of Lord Michael Farrenden, an injured RAF pilot struggling to come to terms with his disability, and Katie Rafferty, a young woman from Ireland desperate to forget her past and start afresh in England.

Katie takes on a job as children's maid to four evacuees from London and finds herself in the country village of Hertfordshire--home to Michael's family estate, Farrenden Manor. Children were often sent to the countryside to escape the worst of the bombings and, although Michael can no longer actively fight for his country, he decides to do his bit by offering refuge, albeit reluctantly, to four young boys for the duration of the war.

The attraction between Michael and Katie is obvious from the start, but these two have some serious obstacles to overcome before either can acknowledge their true feelings. And when Tom O'Brien, a lover from Katie's past shows up, emotions are set to boiling point.

There were some charming scenes in this story, especially those involving the children. But most of all, it was the endearing love story between Michael and Katie that kept me turning the pages. That and lines like - While he let go of everything he had lost, and held tightly onto what he had found.

Katie's Hero is a sensuous tale about the healing power of love. I enjoyed it from start to finish and didn't want it to end. :)
