4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good!!, February 20, 2008

This review is from: Katokichi - Takitate Gohan (instant Japanese rice) 3 Pack (Misc.)
I bought these on a whim when I saw them at a local store, and figured I'd try them out. I just had this rice, and heated up a pouch of teriyaki tuna: Starkist Light Meat Tuna Fillets, Teriyaki, 5-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 10)

The combination was filling and tasty, and took a whopping 2:15 total in the microwave. This is something I would buy again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic rice, quickly!, June 15, 2007

I did not buy my rice packs off of Amazon. Instead, I got them at the commissary where they are roughly half the price.
The product could not be easier to make. Peel back the plastic cover on one corner, microwave for 2 minutes, and you have hot ready to eat rice!
There are stove top directions as well.
In the microwave, the rice turned out perfectly. It's not overcooked, or a mushy mess. Perfect slightly sticky rice.
I'll definitely buy this again. However, it is somewhat expensive, considering you could buy an entire bag of dry rice for this price, and it would feed you many times over what these do.

While I didn't buy this off Amazon (I get it for 2/3 of the price at World Market), it's still worth the higher price if you can't get it cheaper. Yes, it is most definitely less expensive to just buy a bag of rice and steam it yourself, but, speaking as one of the subset of the population who can't cook to save their lives - yes, you can burn water; don't ask - this is the perfect solution for rice lovers. No worry about making too much or too little or having it too mushy or not steamed enough, all the hard work is already done for you. So long as you have m@d skillz with the microwave - you know, pushing those buttons like a pro - you'll have the right portion of perfectly cooked rice in a minute or so. Doesn't get much better than that.
