Book Description

June 15, 1998
Discover the secrets of "Nature's Xanax."

For thousands of years, Polynesians and other South Pacific islanders have known what Western society is just now discovering: the extraordinary anxiety-reducing properties of a root known as kava. This safe, effective herb, which can be readily found in health food and retail stores, provides the feelings of relaxation and tranquility that antianxiety drugs such as Valium and Xanax provide, with none of their unwanted side effects, such as grogginess and mental impairment.

Find out about this natural wonder herb and what it can do, including:

* What kava is and how it will make you feel
* Who should take kava and for how long
* What, if any, are the side effects
* Where to find it and what dosages are recommended
* How it compares to prescription medications
* How it also works for muscle aches, menopause, pain relief, bladder infections, and much more
* Plus, the latest research on other relaxing herbs, such as: valerian, chamomile, passionflower, skullcap and hops
* How it is used with other herbs and nutrients

For less than six dollars, this book offered everything that I wanted about how to take kava. I realized the mistake I had made on timing the dose. I just love how Dr. Sahelian explains complicated things in simple ways. I'm glad cautions and side effects were included.

This review is from: Kava: The Miracle Antianxiety Herb (Mass Market Paperback)
Dr. Sahelian's kava book was exactly what I was looking for. It clearly explained how much to take, when to take it, how often to use kava, and a list of cautions and side effects. The tone was genuine, straighforward, and without hype. I also found the chapters on other herbs, such as valerian, hops, and passionflower interesting. I give it five stars.

Everything I wanted to know about kava, the safety, the right dosages, how to combine it with other nutrients was there. I loaned the book to my doctor who also enjoyed it and said he learned a lot from it.
