Five Stars is Not Enough...,
This review is from: Kawaipunahele (Audio CD)
This is such a wonderful album..I fell into it 'accidentally', and have been moved by every song. I have never heard this kind of music before, and although I don't know a word of Hawaiian (Ok, maybe ONE..'aloha'), the songs are so beautifully sung by Keali'i that you just seem to understand what they are saying."I've Been Wanting Memories" is an incredible track that is on par with some of Bobby McFerrin's best work, and Keali'i's rendition of "In My Life" (with spine tingling hawaiian Chant) is alone worth the price of the album. Buy this one...you won't be sorry.

Soothing and romantic, a little bit of Aloha in my home.,

This review is from: Kawaipunahele (Audio CD)
I picked this up on my recent visit to Maui, and I hit the jackpot!! I love every song, whether in English or Hawaiian (and I LOVE that they give you all the Hawaiian lyrics so you can learn to sing along--and trust me, you'll want to!). There are a few familiar tunes blended in among the Hawaiian ones, such as the Beatles' "In My Life." Keali'i's voice is beautiful...and while his music makes me sad because I miss Hawaii, at least I can have a little bit of Aloha in my home to soothe my soul until I am fortunate enough to be in Hawaii once again.

A wonderful contemporary Hawaiian CD,
By A Customer
This review is from: Kawaipunahele (Audio CD)
Keali'i Reichel's music has always been more accessible to the average tourist than that of other Hawaiian artists. On this CD, he includes both songs in English and songs from the Mainland redone in a Hawaiian style. A good buy for people wanting an introduction to Hawaiian music, but not wanting something too foreign. I like to play it for Mainland friends who wonder what Hawaiian music is, if it isn't awful touristy reggae-ish cheese.

A new Hawaiian master!,

This review is from: Kawaipunahele (Audio CD)
If you want the best of Hawaii, go no further. Keali'i Reichel is professional, masterful, insightful, committed and innovative. Many of his songs are in the Hawaiian language, beautiful and lyrical. He also has English-language songs that are a significant cut above a lot of the other English-lyric stuff coming out of the islands. You can hear the kindness of his soul, his love of the land and his committment to the music coming through in every song.
A lot of Hawaiian albums include songs complaining about the lot of Hawaiians since the haoles began buying up their land. While I certainly sympathize with their plight, I have to say it is refreshing to me that Keali'i doesn't use his artistry to voice this message. By writing and performing pieces in the old language with authentic instruments, he voices the real strength of his people. This is something that must be preserved, and he does his part without complaint or protest. The beauty and strength of his culture is self-evident. If you want to hear some fantastic Hawaiian music, chanting and heartfelt aloha, buy this album NOW!

I am from the beautiful islands of Hawai'i and I first heard Keali'i a few years back. I'm so glad everyone enjoys his music, which does capture the essence of Hawai'i, much like the Brothers Cazimero and the Ka'u Crater Boys do. Much love to those Keali'i for his superb CD. It endured me to it immediately. My absolute favorites have to be the first and last tracks.

Keali'i Reichel is one of my two favorite Hawaiian musicians. The other is Ho'okena. This is a great album. I particularly like the songs sung in Hawaiian.

This review is from: Kawaipunahele (Audio CD)
I have this CD by my bedside, play it any time I feel like I'm stressed. Lo and behold, the stress is gone, and I feel like I am in the most peaceful place on earth (Kauai, where I bought the CD), with not a care in the world. My favorite is the title track. Keali'i is great! A Must Have CD!

Although I'm not Hawaiian, I've visited the islands a few times but I never got a real flavor till I heard this album. There is a magic and love for this culture heard in the songs of this album. Excellent!
