I bought the trike for my nephew as a Christmas gift. I got it baring in mind that his older brother was getting a real 2 stroke fourwheeler from Santa. It arrived well in advance of Christmas, even though I purchased it a mere two weeks before the holiday. The assembly required could have been done by trained monkeys. He loves it, although his little stubby legs are a bit too short to reach the petals still. His parents are now forced to cart it back and forth everywhere they go because Bren refuses to be parted with his trike.

Kawasaki Trike
Mannnnn what an awesome product. My baby, who is 19 months, is already pedaling it. We received it Christmas Eve, assembled it and had it out in the open for him to see in front of the tree. As soon as he came down the stairs the morning of the big day, he made a beeline for the trike and the rest is history. Our son is much taller than the average toddler will be able to use this for at least a couple of years so keep that in mind when ordering. The coolest features of this trike is that your child can coast with their feet on the pedals and he/she is not forced to continuously pedal. It also has big thick fattttt tires so it can be ridden on some not so smooth surfaces so its perfect for boys and some not so prissy girls. It is by far the coolest trike I've ever seen. Dont even compare it with anything else, Simply buy it and your kid will thank you. I strongly believe in getting the best deal and I shopped ebay and other sources and I found the lowest price with free shipping here on Amazon.

We got this trike for our 2 1/2 year old son and he absolutely loves it. When looking into this trike I was a little concerned that it looked like a lot of plastic but it is a very rugged trike. Very heavy duty! And it was a breeze to put together! Didnt even need to look at the manual. My 2 year old doesnt want to leave it alone and my 1 year old is trying to convince us that he is big enough for it so I would say it is a big hit at our house.

I had purchased this trike for my son last year and I was impressed with the product. It was an awesome looking bike that looks like it would last a long time. He wasn't able to quite reach the pedals when received, but he liked being pushed around on it. So it wasn't used a whole lot if barely because we kinda got tired of pushing him around on it and wanted to wait till he could actually reach the pedals. Fast forward to this year. He is able to reach the pedals and is learning how to ride it (He is 2.5 yrs old at about 38 inches in height). However, recently when he attempted to ride it again, the pedals would move, but the front tire wouldn't. It would appear to slip. This really disappointed me especially the price we paid for it. So me being a "bike mechanic" as I had to learn to fix my own bike when I was little, I took off the front wheel and pedal, unscrewed about 10 screws and finally right in center of the tire was the problem. There were three long screws that were NOT attached to their washers and the plate. Because of this, there was no "catch" to rolling the tire. So basically screws and washers were rolling around inside the center portion of the tire, not attached to anything. It was a pain in the A%% to take apart and it's a pain to put it back together. You will need two people to do this. It's up on the work-bench. Would be easier if the pedals could come off easily, but I'm not going to mess with that. I'll try to upload a picture of this later on. At least it's fixable I guess. Perhaps Kawasaki should revert to a spoke wheels with rubber tires like a regular bike, but smaller version if anything needed to be fixed.

Pros: Rugged construction with heavy duty frame, kids absolutely love the "real" motorcycle look, stable, durable.
Cons: Misaligned head set bracket (combined with my assembly error) eventually resulted in head set bushing failure. I bought this trike for a friend who works at a preschool. If the children at this school can't destroy something, it can't be destroyed. They did succeed, after the most intense year of use you can imagine, to break the head set bushings. I called customer service (mentioned in another review) to see if I could buy new head set bushings. Customer service didn't hesitate. They took my name and address, then sent me the new parts at no charge. The guy at customer service suggested that I might have over tightened the head set bolt. He may have been right as I'll explain below. I had the new parts within a few days. The broken headset bushings were not entirely at fault. The lower head set bracket on the forks was slightly misaligned. The first time I assembled the trike I attempted to align the bracket by over tightening the head set bolt. The plastic head set bushings eventually failed from the trike being hammered into every object (moveable or immoveable) on the playground, and the excess pressure on the plastic bushings. When I received the new bushings, I took the time to bend and realign the lower head set bracket. This time I only tightened the head set bolt to where is was just snug. So, with a minimum of effort, excellent customer service from the distributor, and some free replacement parts, the Kawasaki Trike is back in service joyfully taking a beating again. The heavy use has also resulted in the grab handle at the back of the seat being broken (I forgot to ask for a new one when I called for the heat set bushings) and some of the paint has worn off where a second child would ride standing on the back axle housing. The little "shock absorber" also came apart, but I was able to screw it back together, this time with Locktite. Taking into account the kind of use this toy has endured, I'd say the wear and tear are about what I'd expect. Overall, it has held up well, and I like the fact that when things to break, it can be repaired with a minimum of fuss. Recommended.

When the package first arrived I was scared by the tinkling sound of loose parts tumbling around in the box. I called tech support and they were very helpful. It appeared that some of the bolts had come off of one of the parts. Assembly took less than 10 mintues even with the call to tech support. Once put together the bike feels very sturdy. My son is 36" tall and he can barely touch the pedals, however that has not stopped him from jumping on this trike and pushing it around with one foot. It comes with super rugged tires that work great on our grass. It has a limited turn radius so that it doesn't tip and we have found that it is very stable. The seat has two positions but better yet it is really long so its easy for our boy to get onto. Plus it just looks cool. Great trike. We anticipate lots of years of fun with this.

Arrival: This bday present for a 2 yr. old arrived with aged/discolored
packing tape along all the box edges and the box had a large hole in it. Maybe it was a returned unit?? Upon opening the box, the parts were everywhere & the instruction manual was little to no help in pointing out what goes where. It rates as one of the worst manuals I've encountered. Assembly: During assembly, I needed to refer to internet pictures to figure out the proper build. After 30mins of no go with the front forks, I realized I was missing parts so I emailed their support (bikeaid, Cycle Force Group). Thankfully, they responded the next day and I received the missing parts in a weeks time. Assembly still didn't go well after receiving the parts as it required a tool to hold the fork screw while tightning the fork bolt. (perhaps this is included when the box doesn't have a hole and tape all over it??). After making a tool with my grinder and tightening the bolt, I noticed the fork didn't turn smoothly and needed some serious bending to get right. At this point, I should have returned the Trike, but I didn't want to mess with shipping. Usage: Cons: * The rear shock on our Trike is a joke and does nothing. My 140lbs could barely compress the shock. * The plastic on this Trike does not smell nice so we won't use the Trike inside as we were hoping. * Pedaling backwards does not brake the front wheel as many kids bikes have done for decades. * The box indicates ages 2-5, but my 34" son can't touch the ground or go full circle with the pedals. Too bad the manufacturer doesn't specify a min. height requirement. Pro: * The front wheels permit the child to coast w/o the pedals spinnng. While coasting the wheel makes a click, click, click noise. * The seat has two adjustable positions (but requires a wrench to loosen the bolts). * The back of the seat has a cut-away in it for hanging the bike, grabing a run-away, or pushing. * Good service/support team. |
