Not bad for the price,
If your buying this to be a work horse I probably wouldn't bother, but if your a home handy man who needs a nice cheaply priced drill this is it. I've been in the construction business for over 30 yrs and have always bought heavy duty drills. My drills still work good but having to spend big dollars on a battery just dosn't make sense to me any more. I bought this drill at Christmas and have used it on and off for the last three months. So far it has plenty of power and is a buy for the money. The bits that came with are also pretty good in quality. So for a forty dollar drill I say go for it.

Bad Batteries and charger RECALLED,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Kawasaki 840110 Black 19.2-Volt Drill Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
The drill motor seems so be ok. However, the NiCD batteries are NO GOOD.
They do not hold a charge. There is a Nation Wide RECALL on these units. Call 1-877-231-9239 for help in replacing these parts, charger, and two batteries. By the way, this includes 19 VDC and 21.6 VDC units. The case is very nice and the extra parts, bits etc. seem to be ok. Tim Ketterson, Sr

Was nice until the switch burned out,
By But after about three months, the switch burned out, and it would no longer work. I dissected it to see if I could fix it, but the switch was shot. I have been unable to find a parts supplier online or otherwise. Kawasaki's sites do not even acknowledge that they make such a product, so I suspect it is manufactured in China and imported under the K label. The reviewer below indicates it is made by AllTrade, but their website says send it back to them, and does not list the replacement parts for sale. Shipping and repair costs will likely be more than the unit originally cost. It was a nice unit while it lasted, and I may be able to resurrect it with a homemade switch (sacrificing variable speed control). But based on my experience, I would recommend you spend a little more to get one from a reputable tool manufacturer that stands behind its products.

Great while it lasted..Just didn't last long! The drive gear stripped while screwing in a screw. No replacement parts! Spend the money on something else.

While it's true that there was a recall on the batteries, it looks like the folks that had trouble with the batteries only being good for 10 to 15 holes did the following: "Put the battery in the charger, and let it sit there." What happens is that a green LED comes on and one would think it's charging. That's not the case. One actually has to push a (flat to the surface) button to initiate charging. So you push the button and a RED light comes on and stays on until the battery is charged. At which point the green light comes on indicating a charged battery.
I must admit I didn't read the manual and thus was running the drill 'for two months' without actually charging it. I only thought I was charging it. That's two months of use on just the battery come-back! That was over two years ago and now that I'm actually charging it the drill has more than enough power and longevity to spare. Really, the only bad thing I have to say about the drill is that the two spring clip retainers for the drill bits wear out after extended use. But I was always weary about keeping bits there anyway, although I did. The reason I'm looking at this drill on Amazon is that I was thinking about getting another one, because it's just handy to not having to change the bit all the time from a drill bit to a driving bit. I am, and have been, happy with the drill and it's an excellent value for the p;rice. If you don't need a corded, heavy duty drill then this Kawasaki will do the job for you.

Not even a year before junking it!,
This review is from: Kawasaki 840110 Black 19.2-Volt Drill Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
I received one of these drills in November 2010 and by May 2011 1 battery had completely died and the other was in critical condition. I called AllTrade customer service and they told me to ship the batteries and the receipt to them and they would replace the defective items. YEAH! Like I keep receipts for everything. Also, why should I have to pay the cost of shipping the batteries back to them? The serial number is on the back of each battery so all they have to do is get the manufacture date from the serial number.
I don't think I'll be buying anymore Kawasaki tools unless I want some junk for target practice.

I have one of the pre-recall drills which originally came with a 1 hour charger. The manufacturer recalled the charger (batteries would catch on fire while charging) and sent me a replacement 3-5 hour charger. 5 hour recharge times? I'm not impressed. A good company would have eaten the cost to replace whatever necessary to keep the 1 hour charge time.

Useless,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kawasaki 840110 Black 19.2-Volt Drill Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
Right after I received this tool, I used it to drill a hole but the drill bit was wobling. First I thought I did not insert the bit in the right position, but then I found no matter how I did it, it did not work right. Then, I check customer review on this product and I found there was a customer having the same issue a few year back. You would think they would have fixed this manufacturing defect but they did not. price cheap but it is useless.
