I have used dewalt, makita, and milwaukee rotary buffers on fiberglass gelcoat yachts up to 120' for 6 years now. All three are workhorses. The dewalt and especially the milwaukee weigh a ton and are the brunt of horrible user fatigue over long periods. Now to the Kawasaki. It feels exactly like the makita in lightweight, with the exact same powerful motor as the dewalt. The real benefit is the price. All three big name polishers are over 200 dollars, which is rediculous. The kawasaki has just finished compounding and polishing 6 yachts from bow to stern. The backing pad and pads included are cheap. Buy a 3m hookit backing pad and use 3m hookit buffing pads and this machine stands up to the others as a dedicated workhorse both in reliability and power. After buying the 3m backing pad and buffing pad, you still are at least 60 dollars cheaper than the other brands. I wrote this review because of the only other review was a terrible one. Maybe he got a dud but i had to let everyone know the great deal this polisher is.

I wasn't sure what to expect for the price, but i definetly got my moneys worth! Variable speed is a plus. A little heavy for long periods of use.

As another review notes, polisher is great, accessories not so much. I also bought this for a highly-oxidized boat hull, needing to use high heat to polish it out. Polisher has a lot more weight than my Porter-Cable RO unit. Holding it takes more effort, but also allows me to use the weight for good.

Boat was maroon, oxidized almost entirely white. And rough to the touch. I applied some AB1000 by hand, fired up the Kawasaki polisher, which has a soft-start, by the way, and hit the hull. It came up to speed, and just about the time it started to build some speed and heat for me, I watched the hull go from eggshell white to pink, to red, to maroon, and to a polish I could see myself in. Maybe 20 seconds. Awesome. Then the wool bonnet that came in the package blew apart at the seams, and I polished a nice row of circular black skidmarks into my hull. Ugh. My fault, as previous review told me to throw it away!

Anyway, cannot attest to the lifespan of the polisher at this point, but I can say for those with a need for rotary, and heat, over a RO or DA, this thing is great. I found a cheaper unit at HarborFreight, but they're notorious for slow shipping, so this was a great deal, and arrived the next day. Though now I am waiting on a velcro backing plate for it so my pads will work. Yet again, noted in previous review. My laziness got me...

Rookie buffer here, I bought this to do my car and didn't want to invest alot. I have done 5 cars now and going great! I did upgrade to the velcro backing pad by Meguires as I didnt want to take the chance of the original one coming apart and damaging my paint like other reviewers have had. It was cheap insurance to buy a new pad rather than a re-paint. The slow start makes controlling it easy when your stretched out and also doesnt sling your compound as far. Sturdy and solid machine. I was surprised to see that an 11 amp motor doesn't have a 3 prong grounded outlet though. no biggie though.

After reviewing and looking at probably every single variable speed polisher on Amazon, I went with this Kawasaki 7" unit. Partially based on reviews and partially on specs, I needed a unit that would work well on both cars and boats, have a nice grip for ease of use (my boat is 30' long and just think about using a random orbital buffer for 4-5 hours straight...you can't feel a thing after the first hour or so!) I was cautious since the price was so much lower than all the Dewalts and similar, but having never had a problem with returning a poor product with Amazon, I took the chance. It works GREAT! Very sturdy, well built, strong motor, and the gears are very nice. I've never owned a Kawasaki product before (I'm a Suzuki guy myself), I will definitely look at other Kawa products in the future! Just a note that has also been noted in other reviews, purchase yourself either the 3M hookit pad or something similar. The pads included with this unit are not quality made, and you're better off getting some nice ones rather than risking your paint finish or possibly worse from a burn through on a cheap pad.

I'm a bit of a stickler when it comes to my power tools. I learned that lesson a long time ago when I first started doing woodworking and discovered EXACTLY why Black n' Decker tools come so cheap. Suffice it to say, you get what you pay for... Sooooo, you can imagine my attitude when this product was first discovered.

To say I was hesitant about buying this sander/polisher would be an understatement, but I was also confused by how many high ratings it was receiving. After reading the reviews a bit, I decided to take the plunge and I'm thrilled that I did. This thing is awesome! I have to say that Kawasaki really hit the mark when they built this tool, and they did it for half the price of some of the bigger names!

As some others have mentioned, the included pads/discs are pretty lousy, but the tool itself more than makes up for it! I have used this for stripping and repainting a truck camper shell, sanding wood projects, and buffing/polishing a few cars. I haven't had any trouble doing any of those things! This thing just keeps on going!

If you're looking for a 7 inch polisher/sander, then look no further!
