I think this map /tank bag is perfect for me. A map or GPS fits in the top clear plastic map pouch. It sits snug in my crotch which helps me kind of control the bike. If you were to do off road with the bag on, it might get in the way a little, since, at least myself, I ride the tank in the dirt. The tank bra that it is attached to (GREAT FIT ! ) is positioned so that you don't have to move , flip or unzip the bag to fuel up. I also have the Kawasaki KLR 650 Handlebar bag it front which works great with this tank bag. Not a huge bag but it expands to about a small back pack size.

I was actually surprised when I put it on, it is like a bra style with plastic j-hooks for the fasteners. Works awesome, perfect fit around the tank openning. Bag collaspes easy as well as expands easy, just got a custom seat and it doesn't even interfere with it. Great job on this one.

I'm using this tank bag on a 2011 KLR 650 E and it does a good job. Since it is an OEM bag it fits well and was easy to mount. I am fairly tall (6' 2") and the bag would be in the way of my knees when it is empty. However, when it has some items in it there is not a problem. I keep some rain wear and a lightweight back pack in it. I haven't used it in the rain yet to test for waterproofness, but the map pocket on top is quite useful. The map is so low that it would be best to stop before looking at it.

Edit: I found that when this bag is filled, it doesn't get in the way as much. The part that hits my knee is lifted up higher when it is full, or even half-full. This makes riding much better for tall people, so I guess I'm back to recommending this again -- just keep some stuff in it at all times and it's not too bad. Still, minus 1 star for sort of getting in the way when in the standing position.

Pros: The bag is well made with good materials and fits on the bike well (held snug by the straps). It also has a decent amount of storage (about the size of an adult lunch box/bag) when fully expanded. It looks nice and helps protect the tank from scratches.

Cons: I find my knees and upper thighs hitting it frequently on the outside edge. It is actually less of a problem when it's full of stuff since the part that hits my knee is the outer edge of the very top (with the clear plastic), and that part is lifted up higher when it's full. This rubbing is annoying because it happens every single time I pull up to a red light -- I put my one leg down and then when the light goes green and I return it to the peg it catches my leg. I then flip it up over my leg and it rests comfortably there, but the process gets to be irritating. I can forget about any serious off-road activity with this bag since standing up, sitting down, or leaning forward on up-hills are all going to be problematic. It also doesn't lock, so it's not ideal for commuting or going to pick some stuff up at a few local shops.

Other: I'm kinda tall, so maybe this isn't a problem at all for some people. I will keep the bag since I can use it on extended mild rides where I need as much storage as possible, but I will eventually replace this with a better one.

Nice little tank bag, love how it wraps around the tank to protect it as well. Excellent styling, top quality stitching and fasteners. The only not so good thing about it is how it sags... When it is not full or propped up by items inside it, it kinda flops back onto the front of the seat. Its quite annoying. I considering sewing some plastic tabs inside it to keep it upright.

I'm traveling with my KLR650. The tank bag met my needs perfectly. I can place my 7" screen gps in the front pocket. It is easy to see from my riding position. There is plenty of room for point & shoot camera. I can pull to side of the road get my shot then continue on my way.
The bag is well made and fits just right. Looks well.on the bike.
Very happy with this purchase.
