5.0 out of 5 stars Kayakfishing isn't easy...
...What I found though, is that fishing from a kayak is no easy task, especially when you have a spot that you need to fish over, and there is considerable current and wind. Juggling a pole and a paddle is tricky. But now that I have read this book I find myself saying "So that's what I needed to do!" over and over again. Everything makes sense now! My next trip will be...

2.0 out of 5 stars A thinly veiled advertisement
Don't bother with this one...

The writing is poorly organized and extremely repetitive. Remember when you were in high school and were trying to stretch an essay out to a certain number of pages by repeating things?...reminds me of that. Plus much of the text is a thinly veiled advertisement for various guide services and stores. You can do way better by...

Juggling a pole and a paddle is tricky. But now that I have read this book I find myself saying "So that's what I needed to do!" over and over again. Everything makes sense now! My next trip will be much more effective armed with the knowledge and techniques that I have learned from reading this book. But Ken covers much more than techniques; there is information that I never would have considered before deciding which kayak is best suited to meet my needs, and I would've made a big mistake by purchasing the wrong kayak. He gets into customization and accessories also. Ken's knowledge is worth every penny that this book sells for, and much more. If you are just getting into kayakfishing or have been doing it for a while, you'll gain from reading this book!

I bought this book just a few days before I went on my first kayakishing adventure into the Gulf of Mexico. I didn't get a chance to read the book before I went on this 20 mile excursion to a place that I've been to a hundred times before in a not-always-so-trusty old outboard-powered skiff. The trip was a blast! I am officially converted - I now have my cuddy cabin for sale!

I am new to the sport of Kayak Fishing. I found this book to be extremly imformative and a delight to read. With the wealth of information I gained from this book I feel confident in continuing my pursuit of Kayak Fishing. I know it will be a book that I will refer back to many times in the future. It is obvious Ken has a tremendous amount of enthusiasm, knowledge and experience for the sport and is willing to share it with the readers. I am anxiously awaiting his DVD's on Bass Fishing and fishing the flats. Keep up the good work.

This book will point all those interested in kayakfishing in the right direction. Well laid out with an abundance of resource material. Plenty of detailed information on exactly what you will need to get started in this interesting activity.

All bases are covered in this book. You can't go wrong.

2.0 out of 5 stars Kayakfishing: The Revolution, August 17, 2005
This review is from: Kayakfishing : The Revolution (Paperback)
There is some basic useful imformation in this book, but it is one of the most poorly written books I have ever read. Often he will circle around with two or three, even four sentences, saying essentially the same content. You would have to believe that no editor was employed in writing this book, because the pros are so bad. If you can wade through the flawed writing that seems like its from gradeschool level, then I guess you can benefit from some of the information. I have no doubt that he is an accomplished kayak fisherman, and I appreciate how he gave credit to others who are also promoting this sport. Just wish he could write as well as he can fish!

3.0 out of 5 stars Where's the editor when you really need him?, August 18, 2007

This review is from: Kayakfishing : The Revolution (Paperback)
The information in this book is good. There is no question that subtitling it "The Revolution" is accurate and likewise there is no question that anyone wanting to begin fishing from a kayak ought to read and refer back regularly to this book. However . . . and this is a BIG however . . . from a textual standpoint it's a mess. Daubert's wordprocessing program must not have a spellcheck in it because there are a number of repeated howlers. The same information is presented in more than one chapter without referring back to make sure the reader knows that the repetition is deliberate. This is the sort of book that gives self-publishing a bad name because someone really, really needed to look it over before it went to print.

Still, if you want to start kayak fishing get it and read it several times . . . probably with your teeth clenched.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book, lots of info., January 9, 2007
This review is from: Kayakfishing : The Revolution (Paperback)
This is a great book if you are thinking about getting into kayak fishing of if you have a kayak and are thinking of fishing from it. Although most of the same information can be found online at the various websites and forums dedicated to the sport, this book provides all of the basic information in a nice package. The book is well written and is fun to read. I thought the profiles of the kayak fisherman was a nice touch and really got me thinking about the sport as its own individual sport, rather than fishing in a boat for people who can't afford a ranger. Good book to pass the winter away with.

I recently read Capt. Kens book and found it to be a great source of info on Kayak fishing. I have never fished out of a yak yet but I know when I do I know I will be prepared with the help of this book. The technical side on how to rig the kayk is the best part.

Great book for the novice or experienced kayak fisherman. Full of needed information to get your kayak set up to fish and how to effectively fish from your boat. Tips on tackle and techniques for various species top off a tremendous source of information needed to enjoy this great sport.
