Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Kayaking rule number 1: The better you are, the more fun you have. Kayaking On The Edge is based on rule number 1. Most contemporary technique books focus on the beginning paddler, but Kayaking On The Edge is written for experienced paddlers who are ready to take their skills to a new level. Though some kayaking basics are reviewed and expanded upon, this book focuses mainly on teaching freestyle moves, which ultimately make paddlers more confident in their abilities. Besides a compendium of tips, suggestions, and advice, paddlers will find step-by-step instructions for all of the current freestyle moves: 360s, stern squirts, screw-ups, cartwheels, pirouettes, and more. So whether you are contemplating a run on a steep creek, paddling a high-volume river, or just shredding it up at the local surfing hole, Kayaking On The Edge will get you there. (6 x 9, 160 pages, b&w photos)

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book from a great kayaker, December 16, 1999
This review is from: Kayaking on the Edge (Paperback)
This book is great! The concepts that the author, Ben Solomon teaches are well illustrated, easy to understand, and will greatly increase your confidence on the river. His writing style is informative and humorous at the same time. Ben successfully communicates some of the more difficult concepts of whitewater paddling - all the while keeping the book fun to read and hard to put down. Whether you're interested in playboating, river running or both - I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone wanting to improve their whitewater kayaking skills.
