Worst Kayak Guide book,
By Enthusiast (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kayaking Vancouver Island: Great Trips from Port Hardy to Victoria (Paperback)
I just went to Tofino for a weeks kayaking there. I took this guidebook and "Sea Kayak Barkley & Clayoquot Sounds". Comparing them both I quickly found this guidebook to be annoyingly full of warnings and light on details - "don't do this", "experts only", DANGER! DANGER! while the other guidebook talks about what you can do with lots more detail.
There is very little balance in this guidebook - it seems to be aimed at the complete novice paddler - so much of the book is about what not to do. It spends little or no time talking about options in different weather. Reading the book you get the impression that the area north of Tofino should not be attempted by us mere mortals. I recommend the other guidebook and steer clear of this one. |
