Book Description

March 1, 2011 Montana Skies (Book 2)
Book #2 in the Montana Skies Christian Historical Romance Series

For the first time in years, Kaydie Worthington Kraemer can breathe easily. Although she is still haunted by memories of her abusive husband, Darius, she takes comfort in knowing the man is dead. Staying with her sister McKenzie and brother-in-law, Zach Sawyer, at their ranch, Kaydie is still wary of men, especially now that she has another life inside of her to protect. As she looks forward to her baby's birth, she builds a protective wall around herself that won't be easy to tear down.

Ranch hand Jonah Dickenson views his boss, Zach, like a brother. He does not, however, envy Zach's new role as a husband. Deserted by his mother at a young age and forever despised and rejected by his own father, Jonah has few close relationships. But there's something about Kaydie that draws him to her and makes him question his decision to remain a bachelor.

When Cedric Van Aulst, an old friend of Kaydie's, comes to town, an unforeseen prospect of marriage arises. Cedric is someone Kaydie trusts. Will she settle for a safe union with him, or can she trust God to guard her heart and her life in the arms of Jonah?

From the Inside Flap

What People Are Saying about Kaydie by Penny Zeller...

This story is well worth reading, with wonderfully crafted characters and plenty of love and inspiration. It's guaranteed to steal readers' hearts. ~ Shirley Kiger Connolly, Author, Flame from Within and the I See God nonfiction series

This tender prairie romance shows how God works in all circumstances, even horrible ones. Kaydie and Jonah's budding relationship teaches them how to trust one another and to believe in a love that goes beyond their safe friendship. Readers will enjoy the pulse pounding romantic moments between them when painful memories are broken down and shattered hearts are mended. ~ Michelle Sutton, Author of over a dozen inspirational novels, including Never Without Hope and Letting Go

A compelling, and at times, humorous read, with characters fighting against the lies they believe and the fears they have learned, to find joy in discovering that life isn't what they expected ~ Diana Lesire Brandmeyer, Author, Wyoming Weddings and Hearts on the Road

Well-drawn characters, a dysfunctional relationship between a hurting Kaydie and her parents, and a hero who is heart-breakingly compassionate make this a winning historical romance. ~ Laura V. Hilton, Author, Patchwork Dreams

Penny Zeller has a sweet way with words. She presents Kaydie as a story of healing and shows that, though her characters go through difficulties, God's love heals. Life in the Montana Territory is a full of hazards and hard work, but so are relationships. Readers who like good historical love stories will enjoy Zeller's tale of healing hearts on the frontier. ~Angela Breidenbach, inspirational speaker and author

Penny Zeller is a fresh new voice in Christian fiction and her stories touch and inspire. After reading McKenzie, the first book in the Montana Skies Series, I knew I had to read Kaydie as well.  What a wonderful addition to the series.  Don't miss out on this heartwarming, exciting, and adventurous series. ~ Sharlene MacLaren, Award-winning author of three series: Little Hickman Creek, The Daughters of Jacob Kane, and River of Hope (book one, Livvie's Son, releasing in spring 2011).

For a charming tale of love and faith in the Montana Territory, look no further than Penny Zeller's Kaydie. ~ Amanda Cabot, Author, Tomorrow's Garden

Yet another sweet story from an up-and-coming author. ~Cathy Bryant, Author of A Path Less Traveled

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! March 9, 2011
Format:Paperback
I was thrilled to see book #2 in the series up for review. I really enjoyed the story and message in Book 1 and could not wait to read this one. It lived up to my expectations.
This is Kaydie's story. After her abusive husband dies, she goes to live with her sister and husband (who we met in book 1) on their ranch in Montana. As she learns to love God even more, and looks forward to the birth of her child, she also learns to open her heart to love a man again. It's a very peaceful story with a strong message of forgiveness and hope.

5.0 out of 5 stars Montana adventure March 8, 2011
Format:Paperback
I loved the first book and this book lives up to my expectations. I loved Kaydie. She has had a hard life living with an abusive husband and as the book goes on we learn more about some of his abuse. I also love how Penny didn't rush her into a relationship but showed how hard it was for Kaydie to trust men. I also loved Jonah's character. There are some incidents I found quite funny and many I found moving. I love how Penny has tackled a subject of abuse and how recovering from abuse takes time and is not a quick fix I have read other books where the fallout from being abused hasn't really been dealt with and its been very much a quick fix when in fact it takes time to overcome not just the physical aspects but more so the emotional turmoil abuse causes. I cant wait to read more books by Penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating! March 8, 2011
Format:Paperback
After years of pain and starvation at the hands of her cruel husband, Kaydie Worthington Kraemer can finally rest on the Montana ranch her older sister McKenzie and her husband Zach Sawyer call home. Kaydie finds herself wary of men, despite her newfound safety and discovers those protective walls may be hard to escape. Especially once her newborn child arrives.

But Jonah Dickenson, the Sawyer's trusted ranch hand, does his best to care and comfort both Kaydie and her child, but even he must fight the haunting memories of a difficult childhood. Both Jonah and Kaydie must lay their fears aside before they could ever consider marriage. When Cedric Van Aulst, an old family friend proposes a marriage that promises safety and wealth, Kaydie must choose between a safe marriage and a faithful one. Both come with a high cost.

Penny Zeller creates a sweet character in Kaydie, one you wish you could hug or comfort through the adversity that befell her. Kaydie's story is wrought with heartbreak and pain, but filled with redemption. It was a pleasure to read.

I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
