I live in India and was going to be hiking to base camp Mount Everest and was not going to be able to try the boot on prior to shipment. Thus, I was completely dependent on reviews as I compared several boots. I can not say enough GOOD things about this boot. I also had limited time to break in the boot, only about 10 hours of trekking prior to my departure. This boot did not fail me.
We trekked about 5-7 hours a day for 10 days and despite packing many blister treatments, I DID NOT NEED THEM, I had zero blisters. This boot gripped extremely well to rocks and other potential slippery surfaces. My ankle support was firm but not restricting. When I was breaking it in, I had slight discomfort on the left side but after a couple hours breaking it in, it subsided.
The boot was warm and water resistant, though we were not in snow or water much. I did wear two pairs of socks, one thin and one high quality hiking sock.
I thought it only fair to write a review about this boot as others might be in the same situation, I was extremely pleased with this boot.

After reviewing other sites, it was often suggested that one order 1/2 size large than usual. I'm glad I did. The fit is perfect. My customary boot is a Timberland full leather which offers excellent ankle support but is too warm for summer. I have read that these can be considered somewhat stiff which I consider an asset as I generally hike on rough terrain. They are very lightweight. I will probably order a pair of Superfeet insoles as the arch isn't high enough for me. I based my decision to purchase in a good part on the excellent reviews on hiking/backpacking sites.

I have to add that after 2 years of moderate use the waterproofing got dinged, began to peel and they became not waterproof. I have read that it's not unusual for a synthetic boot to lose it's waterproofing after a couple years. I have a pair of Columbias that also developed a waterproofing issue A spray-on worked fine because there was no damage. The sprays weren't enough on these due to the peeling, the Shoe Goo was a mess and lifted after a few hikes. I finally settled on Gear Aid Freesole which I'd used to make toe caps for my leathers. It worked great on these as well for the repair. I still think they're a good buy at this price point, but I wouldn't recommend them if you're going to be doing a lot of rock scrambling. The black area around the base of the shoe is the area that got dinged and is a thin rubber film laminated to the shoe body. If you do buy them and injure them on the black area, fix the ding right away with a spot of Freesole.

I never have trouble with boots or shoes fitting. these felt terrible. I bought them to go hiking in Colorado but returned them bc I knew I wouldn't make it 50 yds w/o getting a blister. the main issue was the top part digging into my legs horribly. it looks like a normal size opening, but looking down into them its so small! and frame around the shoe was so hard, they hurt to move in them.
