Excellent replacement to Belkins "grip vue" cases
on November 4, 2012
I purchased the new ipod touch on day one, and had to patiently wait for cases to come out. Previously on my 4th generation ipod touch, i used the Belkin "grip vue" case, and absolutely loved its soft, grippy characteristics. I wanted this same case again, but it is not available. So i chose KaysCase as the replacement.
Fit and finish, quality
The case fits on the 5th generation ipod touch very snug. Even with a screen protector on the screen, it did not interfere or lift up the protector. The case allows for the protection of the camera lense that is elevated from the body of the ipod. There is a visible manufacturing seam around the edges, but this does not distract the user whatsoever. The top and the bottom (hold switch side, and connector side) of the case seem to have a bit of stretch. By that i mean its almost if the case is just the slightest bit small. But i do not mind this because i would rather it be snug opposed to loose.
The finish on the case is what you expect for 12 bucks (at the time of purchase). It is not a matte black finish, but rather a semi reflective surface. It is very smooth to the hand, but when left on a table of other furniture, it grips well enough that a bump wont send it flying. This is mostly the reason why i bought this one.
The buttons still function requiring just slightly more pressure when actuating them, but its not a big concern. The connector fits without any issues, and the speaker get room to breathe.
My major concern for all cases is the ability to use a larger size headphone jack input. What i am talking about is the connector part of the headphones is much larger than your OEM apple earbuds. I use the Sennheiser HD 515, and im sure many other over ear headphones that use the stereo jack (6.3mm) and require the use of the adapter. Most cases ive bought dont work using this set up. However! This case works fine. There is just enough space for my adapter to fit. I will say your mileage may vary, but my Sennheiser adapter works.
The case add very little bulk to the device, and quite honestly it can be beneficial. The device is very thin to begin with, and to some may be too thin. This case is probably about the thickness of a AAA battery. Very minimalistic approach.
You cant go wrong with this case, honestly. For 12 dollars, you would be hard pressed to find a silicone style case competitor. It fits the Ipod just fine, allowing full use of all buttons and connectors, while still retaining that slim style that makes the newest generation ipod touch fantastic.
