We bought this humidifer for our daughter's room when she got her very first cold at 4 weeks old. It's been a sturdy little thing -- we've run it every night for months and it's very reliable. Doesn't leave puddles on the floor, makes a rather soothing white-noise sound, and the little "on" light isn't too bright. It really does run 18 hours or so if you fill up the tank and leave it on the LOW setting. Our last two humidifiers were lousy and left puddles, but I'd totally recommend this one.

This unit works well... very quiet and the tank lasts a full 24 hours on low setting. Only drawback is having to lift tank off of unit to fill by turning tank over to unscrew cap. Filler port should be on top to make it easy to fill for those who may have difficulty lifting and maneuvering a full tank back into place. A top fill would yield a five-start rating.

I bought this unit while I was in college 5 years ago, and used it sporatically. My son is 2, and we've used it almost constantly for him, mostly for the noise and adding water when he is sick. I like the humidifier, and it has lasted a long time. The only downside to this is the filter. It needs to be replaced semi frequently. When I bought the first replacement, it was close to $10 (found cheaper on Amazon). Still, over the life of the humidifier, the filters cost more than the machine. I'm now looking for a new humidifier, one that doesn't require filters.

We've had this humidifier for about a month and it seems to be working just fine. We've been running it almost nightly and it appears to be working as advertised. Definitely better than our first humidifier because it's so quiet.

I purchased 2 of these humidifiers, one for my bedroom and one for my son's room. The humidifier works great and will usually run 2 to 3 nights on the low setting without having to be refilled. However, it takes the muscle power of both my son and I to get the cap open to refill the tanks on both units. I have had several other people try it as well, and they push on the cap to the point that they are shaking, and it still won't turn. I have even put vaseline on the seal, and it still hasn't helped. I guess the good thing is, you sure don't have to worry about it leaking. Am I the only one that has had trouble with this?

Unless you NEED a hot-mister, or unless you NEED to add ingredients to the water, this seems to be the best bargain and very effective. We had NO trouble with leakage or spills; just handle it right.

I bought two of these humidifiers for my children's rooms because the one I like best (also from Vick's) is not made any longer. They don't leak, they work well, and they make a great white noise to help mask other sounds. Like another reviewer, however, we have a terrible time trying to open the water tanks. I'm afraid I'm going to dislocate my thumb someday trying to get those things open. I would return them for this reason if I could.

Very nice design however you can not "easily" move it from one place to another because the water into the humidifier leaks (overflows)"easily".

As other reviews mention, the rate at which the tank empties is too slow. It took more than 18 hours in high setting to empty the tank. It seems like the water is not even getting through the tank's valve. When you shake or move the unit, you can see bubbles coming out the valve and water flowing to the filter, filling space that was supposed to be filled with water.

I am very happy with this humidifier for this price point. It only works in fairly small rooms, but it does well in my fairly average-sized bedrooms. I have had other, better humidifiers, but they have been much more costly. My two biggest concerns are that the replacement filters are a bit pricey and that the water tank can be difficult to open. The sound of the fan is a pleasant white noise, and there is no problem with dripping or spitting like I have seen in other models. Overall, I would recommend this humidifier, especially for the budget-conscious buyer.
