As a child, in the Catskills, Kazablan played at the local movie theater the whole summer. My friends and I saw this movie once a week. It is an Israeli "West Side Story". One of my favorite musicals of all time. It is a beautiful love story and don't pass up the opportunity to own this wonderful movie.

It is a movie of love, laughter, & entertainment.. it is a movie that will be enjoyed by all ages... it is the Israeli version of West Side Story with a Jewish flair...my two daughters viewed this movie when they were very young..they saw it about 8 times and now they are 30 & 35 and they still remember it like they saw it yesterday....it will bring back memories of yesteryear and a little bit of today....the dancing & the singing is just beautiful...a video to be enjoyed by all religions......

It was great to see the movie, after listening to the tape since the 70's. The only criticism I have is regarding the quality of the film itself - the pictures and words are sometimes blurry. The translation at times is incorrect and unfortunately, the viewer misses out if he doesn't understand the Hebrew. Overall, it's a classic in Israeli film and is a delight to watch. I give it a 9plus.

I first saw this movie in 1975 and fell in love with it. I talked several of my schoolmates into going to see it with me, and soon it sort of became a "cult hit" in my school. I went back several times and even managed to get the soundtrack. I'm sure the movie studio never understood why this movie sold so many tickets in Puerto Rico. It is a fun, modern (1970's) musical, a joy to see. One more thing, the movie is in English. It doesn't have, nor need subtitles.

Kazablan is probably in the top 40 movies I have ever seen! I liked it far more than West Side Story because it makes better use of it's surroundings. West Side Story takes place in Manhatten but the only way you can tell is by the accents. Kazablan takes place in Jaffa. No question about it!

Even though I was just a child when I saw this movie, it instantly became a favorite. Probably the best musical ever done, Ranks right up there with "Fiddler On The Roof". Amazing musical score and songs. They deserve to be released on CD now.
