What I needed...,

So I'm not concerned about what the boots are made out of. I'm more concerned that my feet are warm, dry, and comfortable. These boots don't suck.
I had read a few reviews after I'd bought them that said they weren't waterproof and after one season, I didn't get that at all. I can stand in 4 inch puddles of water with no problems at all. The boots aren't particularly high, so if you splash around or get into deep snow, snow or water will get down into the cuff. I used them mostly to walk the dog and never had a problem with water in the boots. Even in really deep snow, if you lace the laces tightly, it's not really a problem. Warm and dry-wise - I rate these 10/10. Obviously they're not going to be as dry as something like a Snowqualmie or Summit County, but also not as high on the leg. You could get away with wearing these to a very dressed down social engagement without looking like too much of an idiot. The traction is pretty good - there's occationally a little slippage but only on frozen puddles. I suppose the traction is about as good as you can hope for. On packed snow they do pretty well, though a little more tred might help. This is pretty nitpicky - it's not like I've ever slipped and we're talking about packed snow that's damn near a skating rink. I'd give them about a 7 for traction. Comfort level is a 10. My feet always great after walks. Actually, the comfort of these boots caused the purchase of Keen hiking shoes and Newport Sandals, so there you go. All in all, they're good boots for walking around through a little snow - really great for snowy, icy, muddy sort of terrain. If your walking through several feet of snow, you might want something higher.

Very high quality and wonderful fit. They are very warm and have great traction in the snow. The lacing system is fast and easy to tie quickly.
Highly recommended.

If you're looking for something to keep your feet warm and dry in the harshest conditions, these are the boots. The only drawback was when I got inside where I was going, my feet would get really hot in them and I usually took them off when I got to work. As far as fashion goes, they definitely stand out a little bit because of the "ugly toe" feature, but I really just wanted some good quality boots that will last forever, and that's what I got.
On a side note, if you've ever played Duke Nukem 3D and looked at Duke's boots when he does the kick attack, these are the boots! If you wear blue jeans, your legs will look like Duke Nukem!

I am very happy with the quality of these boots, they are very warm and light, not quite as light as a tennis shoe but not heavy like most winter boots. They seem to be waterproof but I haven't really waded in any water, just snow and my feet have stayed completely dry. I did notice they seem to run about 1 to 1/2 size small, I normally wear a 12 but I ordered a 13 and was happy that they were not too big but big enough if I want to wear heavy socks. I also like that since I have a high instep they have very good arch support, they seem to conform to your foot, not flat like a lot of boots. I've taken a lot of long walks and they are as comfortable as a tennis shoe(although they were kind of stiff when I first bought them).I've owned several different styles of Keen shoes and the quality seems to be very high and they last a long time. I have read where some people have broken off the upper eyelets but I think you would have to be pulling really hard on the laces to do that, after all they are just plastic.

Keen - Mens blackcomb winter boot
I searched the internet extensivly trying to find an "animal free" vegan winter boot for my son. I finally selected this item. Although I thought it was a bit pricy, considering there isn't any leather, suede or other more durable materials in this boot, my son said it is everything he needed in a winter boot. It's comfortable, waterproof and warm, with good traction. He is a college student in Michigan, so if he is satisfied with the boots I guess it was worth the money.KEEN Blackcomb Winter Boot - Men's
