First off, these shoes are very comfortable. I wear a pair of Keen Flint steel toe work shoes to work in every day, so I knew how comfortable they would be.

I would have been willing to give a five-star rating to these shoes, but they appear to be having some sort of quality control issue. I bought these shoes in mid-July to wear on vacation. They were great. But after wearing these for about a week I noticed that part of the rubberized trim on the right shoe (near the toe) had come loose and was no longer stuck to the shoe. I contacted Amazon and they shipped me a replacement pair (five-stars for Amazon customer service). I put them on this past weekend to go out and after wearing the shoes for only about two hours and doing nothing more strenuous than walking down a steep driveway the trim on the replacement shoes was doing the exact same thing in the same place as the first pair.

I don't think I want to mess with getting another replacement pair, unless Keen is reading and wants to send me a replacement they can guarantee can go more than a week without the trim coming off.

As far as fit goes, they run a bit small. I usually wear 11 1/2 (that's the size of my other Keens), but I took the suggestion of some other reviewers and went with a half size larger and I'm glad I did. 11 1/2 would have been too small.

I'll post pictures of the quality issue I've described. If I received two pair with the same defect, I'm sure there are others.

I have two other pairs of Keen shoes - one is the typical two tone brown suede hiking/walking shoe and the other is a leather work shoe. Both are comfortable, supportive and have great grip. I can wear either of them for extended periods and both are exceptional quality.
I was sincerely hoping the "Marshall hiking shoe" would bridge the gap that Keen has created between looks and comfort and thinking this would be a fashionable, comfortable shoe that I could wear everywhere and not feel like a tourist in "hiking" shoes.

The Marshall hiking shoe looks good and fits as expected (for size).
However, the foot bed is not at all supportive - particularly not as much as you'd expect from Keen and hiking shoes in general.
It is too flat, too flexible and has very little shock absorption between the arch and the heel.

I am looking for innersoles that may help to raise the heal and add shock absorption, but an innersole will not make up for the lacking structure.

I have several key complaints about this shoe.
The heel of the out-sole is too sharp and therefore does not allow your foot to roll forward, but rather forces your foot to clap the ground. This is a perpetual annoyance.
There is NO arch support. The lack of arch support is the result of a particularly lousy insole, a recess in the out-sole of the shoe, at the arch and a thin sole which lacks structure. I had to replace the insole with superfeet inserts, otherwise I would have simply returned the shoe.
The last pint is minor: the design of the ribs on the side of the shoe seem all show and no go - meaning they are not nearly robust enough to provide real support against lateral strain.

There is a lot to like about the shoe as well: Great tread on the bottom of the shoe. nice look, (I have the all gray). nice big toe box. etc.
BOTTOM LINE: PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

I have had crippling knee pain for a few years. A buddy taught me how to squat a barbell properly which helped build a foundation, but my shoes always seemed to put pressure on inner knee (bow legged). I discover Keen Marshall and the flexibility of the shoe with the spacious toe box made my knees feel young again. Since first buying in 2013 my knees have not been a problem anymore 😍 I'm so in love with the Marshall's that I was afraid they were going out of stock/production, that I bought 7 or 8 pair of the shoes in various colors and also 4 pair of the high top model for winter. I wear the high top with a pair of LL Bean wool socks and my feet stay warm in minus -10 Fahrenheit while working outdoors middle of night (Maine/New Hampshire).

Purchased for my husband. A very comfortable shoe. No break in time needed. Nice & wide. Sizing is accurate. Would definitely recommend it.

I have a slightly wide foot and sometimes have to purchase wides to have enough room. Keen are cut a little wide so they fit my foot perfectly. This is my second pair of Keens and both are cut the same way.

Like this shoe very much for its light weight and roomy toe box. First pair lasted about 350 miles of trail walking before the fabric blew out on the outside edges where my foot is the widest. Bought a second pair because they are so comfortable. You trade durability for the light weight.

Great work shoe and breathes so well I'd swear they had lungs!

Not heavy hikers but that's not what I was expecting. I truly love these shoes!

I have both the mesh and the waterproof versions. There's a little less structure/support with the mesh version, but they are comfortable and cooler.

I normally wear a 11.5 in Keen shoes, but had to go up to a 12 in these. They are comfortable.
