I haven't tried everything on the market, but have sampled plenty in 30+ years of hiking and backpacking, and I've never encountered a boot as comfortable as the Keen Voyageur Mid. For day-hiking and 2-3 day backpacking trips in relatively dry conditions, the Keen provides great support and comfort. Little breaking in is required. For hiking in wet conditions, go for the Targhee Mid, which is basically the same boot with a waterproof liner.

I purchased these and have worn them on multiple hikes in the NC mountains. I would have to disagree with the other review because mine have held up well and feel great. The upper did take some breaking in but you should expect this with any boot that is going to provide adequate support. The only thing I haven't done is carry them with a substantial amount of weight on my back. (over 30 lbs.) The only reason they don't get a 4 is because I they do not do well stepping on smooth rocks in creeks/rivers once wet. The shoe does get a little slippery.

Just used these for a canoe trip in the BWCA. These boots were the best! Water drained right out, feet were super warm and the days we saw sun, they dried out quicker than any other boots. Great support for the rocky portages and slippery rocks. Held up well to the extreme conditions and after being soaked for 8 days, cleaned up and look like new. Great boot!!

I have a terrible time finding hiking boots that fit! My feet are normal at the heel, but very wide at the toe, and they never "swoop" in at the end. Most shoes and boots are designed with this stylish "swoop" inward at the toes, which makes the experience like wearing little torture boxes on my duck-like feet. About 6 months ago I bought a pair of Keen Voyager hiking boots at a shoe store. Finding "off the rack" shoes of any type which fit my feet is something of a blessed event. I just ordered my second pair from Amazon.

I've been very happy with my first pair of Keen Voyager hiking boots. I'm primarily a desert hiker, so water resistance is not a factor in my rating. Comfort and durability are the most important characteristics, and the Keen boots have shined in these areas. They have performed flawlessly over some very rough, steep terrain in Death Valley National Park. The soles have plenty of grip and the rubber which wraps over the toe offers great protection and superior wear.

Great boot this is my second pair. I am a builder and use them for work, they are so comfortable.

I bought these boots as I need a good pair of water proof boots and today while walking in the park in the rain I stepped into a very shallow puddle and water drained into the sides of the boots and I mean not even close to water proof. These boots are true to size I wear size 16 and these boots feel great on my feet and I will for sure order another pair. They are comfy and seem to be durable so far, I have had them for 2 weeks and have about 8 days of wear on them.

Got this boot online,witch I Dident want to do.Felt great right out of the box.Did 8 miles the first day,and they did great.Pleaty of room both in the toe box and over all.These will work well on my 100 mile AT hike this Summer!!!!

I found this boot to fit perfectly. Its also a great looking boot, I got quite a few compliments on them.

I love these boots! They are very comfortable and provide great support. I walked at least five miles in them in downtown Chicago a week after I got them and they felt great. I haven't hiked in them yet, but I'm sure they'll be good for that too. When these wear out I'll be buying another pair!
