I just received these boots in the mail. I promptly tried them on as I have been wearing blown out boots all week that have holes in them. Not fun in the rain. First, I am impressed on how sturdy they feel. Lots of reviews state that they don't need a break in period. I somewhat disagree. I certainly think the comfort level will improve in the next few days. They are not uncomfortable at all, just a bit stiff. They are not heavy as others have written. My Asolo hiking boots are just as heavy. They are work boots, that are meant to protect your feet. For the last 20 years I have worn Carolina's. The last two pair fell apart within a year. Time to change. I really feel that this is my new brand. I actually ordered the soft toe but I am really impressed on how comfortable the steel toe is. It hardly is noticeable and gives me that much more protection, so I 'll keep them. Stating earlier that I was a Carolina man, I am not shy about forking over some dough for a quality product. I don't want to be on the job site miserable just to save fifty bucks. Obviously, I can't say how they will perform this early. But, out of the box I am very impressed.
Okay, I've been wearing these for a week and a half and the inside of my ankles are rubbing raw. The seam that holds the fabric around the heel just rubs away. I am hoping that with a little more breaking in the toe will flex more relieving my heel. I wish that the seam didn't protrude inside the boot. Other than that they seem good so far. Just need some bandaides or duct tape to place over that seam. It has only been happening while wearing heavy socks.

LOVE LOVE LOVE these boots. Never owned Keen in my life, or a pair of steel toes for that matter. Super sturdy, heavy duty killer work boots. I am a heavy equipment diesel mechanic and these things put up with everything I throw at them. Not the lightest boots, certainly not the heaviest either. I was wearing CAT boots before this, zero comparison. I have custom orthotic inserts, even using those with my CATs my feet were throbbing after work, literally, throbbing. My feet haven't throbbed a bit after switching to these Keen boots. I'm not saying your feet won't be sore anymore, mine still get sore after an intense day, but they don't throb anymore. Love these boots, can't say it enough, bought sight unseen and do not regret it. I bought them based on recommendations of a teacher who swears by Keen shoes. She was right, Keen is the truth, at least for me. Had a few people ask me about these boots while I was wearing them, they are kinda trendy. I love the city of Milwaukee too, cool coincidence. Worth the price.

Very comfortable work boots. Size runs true. Took only a couple days to break in. They are barely on the heavy side.

This is a great pair of boots!
Large and heavy looking but they are very light, most work boots are hard to get on and off but these are easy to step into just leaving the top set of clasps undone.
Large front area really works well protecting the toes.
I really like these which means they will be discontinued when I need another pair!

Heel area a little wider than expected compared to rest of boot (Not a huge problem). Toe boxes are a Awesome! No pinching or tightness in front part of foot. Break-in period was Only 90 Minutes!
Other shoe makers could learn a lot from KEEN.

Not waterproof, after many vigirous oilings still near useless. the leather is just too thin to hold the oil and keep water out.

The sole after three months is seperating as well as the stitching on the front. Im a driller in ditches all day, I dont expect them to feel lile slippers. But they are the newest boots in the crew and in the worst condition. I do clean and take care of them.

I'm a heavy equipment tech, these boots lasted maybe 3 months before the padding on the heel started coming apart from the leather. The laces have disintegrated and the fit is akward. The soles are comfortable and would seem to outlast the upper portions of the boot, I cannot recommend these boots.

Update 6/17/15 - Okay - in a better place now and have upgraded my review to 3 stars because Keen did come through and is replacing the boots. I heard back from Keen yesterday and they provided me with a coupon for a new pair of boots and the person that reached out to me was very helpful. Glad to see that Keen stood behind their product.

Update 6/9/15 - I finally called customer services and they told me that I should just work the claim through Amazon as it would be faster than waiting on them. I indicated I didn't see how this was Amazon's fault because of a material defect in the boot and they said it didn't really matter it would still be quicker just to work it through Amazon. The person on the phone at Keen was pretty much as unhelpful as she could possibly be. She said that they would put my warranty claim on hold until I reached out to Amazon which I told them I wasn't going to do and she then reiterated well we'd suggest you work this through Amazon.

Update 6/7/15 - well several weeks in of periodically wearing these boots and I still can't get the darn things broken in. Maybe I just got a lemon. I think I found the culprit though - unlike several of my other pair of boots these have a stitch seam right in the center of the back of your heal and I think that the stitching is what is digging into my foot. I'm going to give them another week or two and if not broken in they are probably headed to the trash can. At this point they look pretty messy just from mud around the house so I would feel bad sending them back. Oh, and in regards to the warranty claim for the bad stitching on the tongue, we are now 3 weeks in and not a single word from Keen. On their website it is still saying in process. Due to the lack of responsiveness and issues with the boot I'm going from my generous 2 stars down to 1. Will reassess if/when I hear back.

Based on the previous reviews I really wanted to like these boots but so far I have not been impressed. On the second day of wearing the boots the tongue stitching has started to separate resulting in about a 1.5 in gap between the leather and the waterproof backing I was able to re-stitch it until I could work the warranty claim through Keen but not something to expect to do on a pair of new boots. I submitted the warranty claim to Keen one week ago as of the date of this review and I've yet to hear anything back which doesn't bode well for this customer service experience.

With all that said, my biggest gripe is actually the long break in period. I've owned many Red Wings, Wolverines, Chippewas, Danners, etc. and so far the break in on these has been the longest and most painful. The first day I wore them for about 2 hours to hang tree stands and didn't take any other boots with me - huge mistake. By the end of the two hours I could barely walk and actually debated going barefoot - no joke. Had a bad blister from that experience and couldn't wear them for about 3 days. The next several times I wore them was just to walk the dog for about 15-20min at a time which has actually helped. I'm about 2.5 weeks in and they are now actually wearable. I push mow my yard which takes about an hour and made it through that today with no real problem. Also, it isn't like I was wearing bad socks - I only wear Darn Tough socks with my boots which are some of the best socks out there in my opinion.

The boots do have some redeeming factors assuming I may have gotten a dud on the stitching. They are light weight which will be nice once they are fully broken in. The tread is pretty aggressive and seems to do fine on wet grass and mud which is nice. The leather seems to be of good quality and is actually pretty soft which should have resulted in a quicker break in but for some reason didn't. Appearance is good.

These boots are very comfortable, when I first slid my foot into the boot I had an immediate soothing sensation! The material inside and out are top quality! Now, I have custom orthotic insoles, without them I think I would need to get a half size smaller, but I would go ahead and order your regular size, maybe it's just me. Two things I've noticed, one, the tounge. I love how the tounge is ALL leather, it puts an ease to my mind knowing I don't have to worry about water seepage, but with that said, it makes it bulky on the top of my foot (above my arch). But with time I think that it will loosen, plus it also has to do with my orthotic insoles as well. Another issue with the tounge is that it is barely long enough. The laces BARELY stay on the tounge when on strung through highest eyelets. It almost seem over time they will be on top of tounge. But maybe I'm wrong on this. Another thing I notice is the toe bumper. There is some glue missing where it joins up with the flat piece of rubber that lays over the steal toe. I hope those two pieces do not come apart or start leaking water. I work in HVAC new construction and constantly kicking things with my steal toe so we will see how these preform. All these issues are really superficial and haven't been confirmed. All in all it stays at five stars for top quality and comfort! I will post a future update.
