Real Talk! May 25, 2011
Format:Paperback
"Keep It 100" by author Rickey Teems ll lives up to its title 100%. Real talk is what is being served in categories 100 through 1 where no topic is off limits. Using easy dialogue and keeping each category "lite" with catchy headings such as "Don't Drink The
Haterade!" and "Flossin' VS Bossin'" this book could easily end up as a tool used in todays schools as a self awareness guide for young men and women. An area for reflections is located at the end of each principle along with a scriptural reference, a proverb, and one or two questions giving the reader a moment to self reflect.

Although I've heard and have taught my own children some of these principles it was refreshing to read them in such a relaxed presentation with a non preachy style. My personal favorites are #84 which focused on the impact our actions/decisions have on others, and #82 talked about letting go of the past...yes indeed, no matter how old you are it's never too late to re-evaluate and set goals.

A quote from the introduction "The principles every man must know in order to take their life to the highest level." A recommended read and should also be given to the young adult in your life.

Keep it 100 September 11, 2011
Format:Paperback
I enjoyed "Keep it 100: Real Talk on Being a Real Man" by Rickey Teems II for the most part. However, I thought it was a bit predictable. I expected to be enlightened more, but it was all things that I have heard before. It also does not speak to every man. Let's keep it 100. We live in a very diverse world today. Every man is not "straight." The author should have tried to incorporate messages that included all walks of life.

I do believe "Keep it 100: Real Talk on Being a Real Man" could help some of the younger generation, especially the young men who are growing up without male role models.

Great book. Can use as a daily/weekly devotional or just just read through it. Keeps it real about topics affecting men today and how God can help us if we rely on Him. A great read.
