Julie is a yoga teacher, so she understands the power of breathing correctly.

Breathing is something we all do naturally since we are born but take it for granted. You'll be surprised to learn that most of us don't breathe properly. We don't use our breath to its full potential, nor do we use it to bring more awareness into our lives, relieve stress or reduce anxiety.

The breath is a wonderful "God-given" tool we have, and of course it's free. Deep breathing can be learned by anyone, you'll be amazed by the power it gives you. It's simple and takes just a few minutes.

Everyday, we take approximately 21,000 breaths. Our minds are directly linked to each breath we take.

Julie writes beautifully and each paragraph contains really useful info. She includes a couple of really interesting personal stories, too. She also recognizes that we are all unique and prefer different things so she has included different breathing techniques so everyone can find what they're comfortable with.

- soft belly breathing
- full chest breathing
- guided breathing
- nostril breathing
- to mention but a few

She offers different techniques to energize the body, soothe the mind and calm the nervous system. Those who want healthy nerves, evenness of mind and temper, to change their mental outlook, help their body regain a state of pure health, curb fear and anxiety and stay calm in stressful situations will benefit from reading this. Also those who want to stop cravings like smoking and drinking. Sounds like a cure-all doesn't it? Maybe breathing is more important than you realized.

I loaned this e-book to a friend who is a yoga teacher.

5.0 out of 5 stars Conscious breathing techniques October 11, 2012
By Dees
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It was eye-opening to learn how much conscious breathing plays a role in managing stress. I learned many new methods of deep breathing exercises that I practiced as I went through the book. I never realized how my tendency toward shallow breathing is keeping in stress and negative patterns. Great book with exercises I can do on a daily basis.

I found this to be a great book for natural healing and overcoming a lot of the stress and anxiety in my life. Overall the book was very well written by an experienced yoga professional but it's something everyone can use. The information is rather interesting and I learned a lot about how important it is to breathe properly. I have already been using the Pranayama breathing and some other deep breathing exercises the author discusses and noticing more energy and feeling more present and relaxed. I know I will be using these breathing techniques every day now and will be sharing this book with others.

4.0 out of 5 stars Give it a try October 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I had to wait a few days before writing a review for this book. It is well written and the exercises are simple to understand and do. However I wanted to try some of the exercises first. I was a little skeptical of some of the claims made in the book about how much it would help. However it is fairly common knowledge that the first step in getting someone to calm down is to take a deep breath, so I thought I would try. The techniques do work so the book is very useful. I am still waiting to see how much of a life changer it is, perhaps I could have given it 5 stars if I had taken a longer time before giving the review.

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I really found the breathing techniques very helpful. I keep this book in my purse and sometimes use those breathing exercises during my lunch break at work or in between classes during school hours.

I have already recommended this book to several friends and I would pretty much recommend it to anyone else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breathing lessons October 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
We are always being told of remedies to help us cope with all the stress and bustle of the modern world. Among the many suggestions are taking up running or gym classes, finding an absorbing hobby, having an afternoon power nap. The trouble is that most of those require us to make changes in our lifestyle that, when we're already a bit irritable and edgy, just seem too much.

This little Kindle ebook offers us something much more simple. We can ease our stress and anxiety by doing something we all do anyway - breathing - only in a different, deeper way. In fact, it just may be that we are breathing the wrong way anyway, and that this is part of what is causing our problems in the first place.

From this ebook we can learn how to breathe the way we were born to, and so rejuvenate ourselves and begin enjoying life again. Deep breathing techniques are taught in yoga, and so learning to do them can introduce us to the joys of one of the most ancient and profound practices in the world. If we then feel like investigating yoga further, we will find we are making changes in our lifestyle in a gentle way that causes us no stress whatsoever.

I find that this book provides a compelling case in the introduction to focus and care about your own breath.
It delivers on its promise to teach you deep breathing techniques, and as soon as you practice them you feel better.

However, I think the explanation for some of the exercises needs a bit of a polish. I would:
Spend 1 more page instructing the reader to sit comfortably (with pictures).
Elaborate more on what is to yield and what does it feel like.
Elaborate on the difference between exercises 2, 3 and 4, which seem similar to me.

I admit that I, as a reader don't get this fully, because I have reread it a couple of times and I get it more each time, which improves my practice.

I started reading this "book" and saw on my tablet I had only 15 minutes until I was completed. It wasnt a book, more like a pamphlet. Just some very basic information.
