Biography

The Republic Tigers arrived in 2008 with Keep Color, a kaleidoscopic burst of symphonic psych pop that was universally hailed for its unique multi-faceted approach. The Kansas City-based quintet’s Chop Shop Records debut featured an array of styles – spanning future folk, high-spirited rock, and candy-colored pop – melded into a truly original and ingenious sound. Now, with the new No Land’s Man… Read more in Amazon's The Republic Tigers Store

Editorial Reviews

Epic yet intimate, this Kansas City-based quintet weave future folk, euphoric psychedelia, and exuberant symphonic pop with intricately crafted electronic textures and uncommon emotional depth. The result is a bold and beautiful collection of strikingly human music that holds an aural mirror to our technologically integrated society. The sound is half organic, half synthetic. --This text refers to the Vinyl edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deep Music, May 16, 2008
This review is from: Keep Color (Audio CD)
Thanks to Paste Magazine's free compilation CDs, I heard the single "Buildings and Mountains," in which I heard the sound of the future. So I ordered the EP, which only confirmed my belief that something special is at hand in this band. The full-length is a true gift to those wise enough to listen, with numerous standout songs even better than the single. I don't want to draw comparisons to other bands, because this is incomparable. I can't wait for their tour, because I have faith that this kind of magical music is best enjoyed live. For now, buy this album and soothe yourself on the fine melodies, songwriting and total lack of pretension. A beautiful debut.

5.0 out of 5 stars unbelievably original, May 6, 2008
This review is from: Keep Color (Audio CD)
If you are into hauntingly beautiful vocal melodies and textures that are completely uncommon from most modern bands you will be pleasantly surprised by this disk. Their music has already been featured on Greys Anatomy and they will be taking the world by storm very soon. Catch them on tour with Nada Surf and rumor has it that possible touring might include death cab for cutie. These gentlemen of Kansas City have created one of the most emotionally powerful releases in years.

Can anything good come out of Kansas City, MO? I lay in a half-sleep in the backseat of my niece's car two years ago as we glided through the Arizona desert, my niece continually feeding the Mp3 player with sounds I'd never heard before. This album was playing through the second time when I asked her who it was. Later I bought the CD from Amazon. The production is fantastic, the songs original and engaging. Keep Color is sonic enjoyment in it's purest and most elevating form. Something great came out of Kansas City, MO.
