This record will leave wanting to Keep Coming Back for more...,
This review is from: Keep Coming Back (Audio CD)
I have kind of followed Marc Broussard froma distance for a awhile but he not an artist that I ever really considered one of my favorites. I love his song "Home" and also what songs I have hear from his last EP "Must Be The Water." So when I saw this record up on AOL to listen to for free I figured why not. After listening to it twice I decided to go get it. "Keeping Coming Back" is a southern record made by a southern boy, and I am not talking about southern rock. The first thing you notice about this record is the New Orleans, Louisana Bayou feel that permeates much of the album. From the jams to the mid-tempo numbers to the ballads you can feel it there in much of this album. I read on Wikipedia that Marc's father, Ted Broussard, is a Louisana Hall of Fame Guitarist and former member of The Boogey Kings, and you can really tell on this record that Marc grew up around this kind of music. And that is the feeling that I get when listening to this record, that Marc is playing the music he grew up listening to and learning from the guys that played it. And I don't mean as sort of kind retro vibe or as tribute to them, but that he is playing what comes naturally to him. This record covers the gamet from the funky to the bluesy to R&B to even some bluesy country (with guest vocals from LeAnn Rimes). I think it should also be stated that this guy has a great voice. He can sing next to LeAnn Rimes and not sound out classed. Instead he can match note for note and sound just as good. This record is enjoyable to listen to, and I promise you will find yourself bobbing your head while listening to it. It will also leave wanting to see Marc perform live. If you enjoy Dave Barnes, Matt Wertz, Gavin Degraw, or any artists like these, then check this one out.

A couple of years ago I saw a Direct TV Concert Series featuring Marc Broussard. I was blown away by his voice and decide to pick up his album "Save Our Soul". I am not a big fan of albums full of covers but what I did take away from it was that Marc Broussard has a lot of talent.
I decide to purchase his two previous albums of original material, "Momentary Setback" & "Carencro". "Momentary Setback" was another example of his ability but his voice was over shadowed by the music throughout the whole album unfortunately. "Carencro" was a big step up in my opinion. He seemed to find his sound on this album but still didn't put it all together. When I heard "Keep Coming Back" was coming out I was really looking forward to it. The day it was scheduled to be released I went to Best Buy, Target, Cd Disc World, and a few others and not one store seem to have it. For the next couple of weeks I continued go to all these stores to pick up his album but still no one had it and didn't know when they were going to get it. I went on to Amazon and saw it was available and purchased the album right away. I must admit it was worth the wait. This album is fantastic. There is not one song on the Album that I do not like. My favorites would have to be "Hard Knocks" and "When it's Good" featuring LeAnn Rimes. "Keep Coming Back" was a great choose to kick off the album. The album is Soulful, Bluesy, Old School Rock, as well as a touch of R&B and Country. Pick up this album! You will not regret it.

This latest CD by soulful Louisiana singer Marc Brousard features all original music. Full of passion, this CD is a must for fans of blues, soul, funk. Elements of these different types of music are hallmarks of Broussard's music. As another Louisiana boy who is a professional musician, I HIGHLY recommend this recording.

And he brings it again,

I've been a fan of Marc Broussard since he put out his ep Momentary Setback. It was moving and original. Then came Carencro which topped the charts and was a beautiful work of art. Now with Keep Coming Back, Marc has again brought something thoughtful, moving and toe tapping. The soul feeling and the funk beats make this album an enjoyable listen!

OK, not as good as Carencro,

Bought this because his previous album Carencro was the best i've heard, ever! This one, not so much. Seems like to much production and slick recording might have got in his way of the ture pure sounds from the previous work... ... jmho

I've listened through the whole album probably 4 or 5 times. I discovered Marc a few months ago and purchased his Carencro album. That album is much better than this one, in my opinion. This album lacks the charm of Carencro. It also doesn't have the same "Singer/Songwriter" appeal. There are some stylistic shifts as well, which I look at in a negative light. Still, Marc's vocals are phenomenal. He's one of the greatest singers around. Perhaps this album will grow on me but after giving it a few listens, it isn't sticking all that well. Grade: C-

I enjoy may different types of music. This cd takes me back to the late '60s and early '70s. I like the use of horns and the free flow of jazz influencing the music. While he has less diversity than on Carencro I find this one easy to listen to. This guy would have been an huge success in the era of Blood, Sweat and Tears.

Great album,

It doesn't come all that often that a 26 year old is blessed with vocal talent as good as Marc Broussard's. I saw him perform as the opening act for Gavin DeGraw, and he actually stole the show. I became an instant fan and this album will not disappoint you. If you're looking for a funk meets blues fusion that's foot-tapping, great driving music, this is the album for you. Keep Coming back is a rather catchy tune, while Power's in the People is far more message oriented but great as well. While the duet with LeAnn Rimes, When it' Good, is a catchy, country song, their duet Nothing Wrong, in my opinion is far more fun. From bayou thumping guitar rifts to vocal scales that I haven't heard in a very long time, this is one of the better albums I've had the pleasure of listening to, and you will too.

Just purchased this CD recently. I can't believe I didn't know he had a new CD out :-/ but I am loving it! I can't get enough of "Why Should She Wait" with Sara Bareilles. Marc's voice is amazing!! He is even better live though, if you haven't seen one of his shows, I highly recommend seeking one out and attending!!
