5.0 out of 5 stars Might be the Best work yet!, May 1, 2007
This review is from: Keep It Going (Audio CD)
Hard to follow up the album "Just One More" and how could anyone not LOVE "Drinking For 11" This AMAZING Album shows just how diverse these guys are! Excellent vocals melded with the boys skills on all that they play. This album is superb and I highly recommend it! Every song is done to the highest standard. If you have not seen this band live you NEED TO GO! You will not regret it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Mad Caddies Best to Date, June 5, 2007

These guys keep getting better and better. Each album seems to have them growing musically and lyrically. Fun lyrics on a great Reggae/Ska Beat. If you always thought the Mad Caddies as a middle of the road band with occasional strokes of brilliance, try this album out, more genius here than ever before

5.0 out of 5 stars And they're awesome live!, August 16, 2011
This review is from: Keep It Going (Audio CD)
This is a great ska/reggae album. The Mad Caddies really embody the sash worn by the man on the cover. New Orleans style hornplay and gritty (at times) vocals are highlighted throughout the tracks. Also, they've done a great job of blending a not insignificant amount of rock with their ska. The Mad Caddies' sound seems to have become much more focused in the leap from "Just One More" to "Keep it Going." For some, the sound could be a little too focused as "Keep it Going" is not as eclectic (one of the band's hallmarks) as previous albums. Overall, however, I stand by my five-star rating. Keep ska alive!

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep it Going...it never gets old., August 17, 2010
This review is from: Keep It Going (Audio CD)
I first heard of Mad Caddies when they opened for Pepper at a show I went to. Other than an Ep, this is the only work I've ever heard from them. So, I cant compare it to their other albums, I can only give it an unbiased first time listener review.

This album is plain, flat-out, a ska/reggae/punk masterpiece. From the opening track "The Dirge," you know you're in for something different, and awesome. The next two tracks, "Backyard" and "State of Mind" are just brilliant reggae songs. Just suburb songs anyway you listen to them.

The album flows together seamlessly, and the production value is amazing (and it's going to be when you've got Wayne Jobson for a producer.) Anybody who is a fan of reggae, ska, or punk will like this album. Keep it Going is a necessary album in my collection, the songs are great individually, and as a whole, it's a fantastic album. If you haven't already, get this album, you'll be glad you did.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's been a long time since a band got me this hooked!, October 26, 2007

For a band that's been around as long as they have (since 1995), they've sure managed to fly well beneath my musical radar. How this is possible, I'm not really sure. When the disc arrived, my first thought was, "Hmmm... oh yeah, that's that band... that I never listened to. I sure hope this doesn't suck..." Well never fear, cuz you'll be hard pressed to find anything that sucks about Keep it Going (or Mad Caddies, for that matter). I'm going to assume I'm mostly addressing fans of this genre here, cuz I doubt someone's suddenly gonna be won over as a ska fan by a single album review. But I can assure you, if you're already a Caddies fan or think you might be inclined to try it on for size, I can think of no better place to start than with Keep it Going. Really great stuff that reminds me of a mash-up between the best parts of Mustard Plug and Cherry Poppin' Daddies. Energetic when appropriate, yet mellow and groovy also. Long story short, I was impressed enough to go out and buy a couple other of their albums: it's been a long time since a band got me that hooked. Go pick this one up, you won't regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Super review #4!!!, May 3, 2007
This review is from: Keep It Going (Audio CD)
Wow, what an excellent album. Closer in sound to Just One More than any other, this mostly slow album is great fun and it's 2 fastish songs are totally rad. Lazy Bones rivals Leavin' as a geeat catchy tune and the quite slow but upbeat 'Today' will stick in your mind as you sit through your day at work, waiting to get home for another listen!

Generally I prefer the fasetr Caddies songs, but the slower ones here are fantastic too, perhaps better than their previous stuff!

EASILY the best Mad Caddies album out there. Of course, listen to their entire collection, but if you have to buy one of their albums, make sure it's this one.

I've loved the Mad Caddies since they first came to be I have all their early stuff demos, Promos, ect,.,. when I receive the Promo for this cd I just couldn't wait. I purchased it right away, but about 2 months later my Daughters car was broken into and she had my cd's. So I found it on here and I'm happy the cd has been in my player in my car for atleast a month mow.
this is by far their best work.

Mad Caddies outshine themselves once again. While everything old is awesome/amazing/rediculously great music, this album has to be their best. As they have done with every other album, each new album outshines those previously released. Probably due to my trend towards slower ska music over the last couple years, my favorite tracks are State of Mind, Lay Your Head Down, and Riding for a Fall. But honestly, they aren't *that* slow. I'm also in love with Coyote, which has a hint of something spicy to both the vocal accent and the instrumental harmonies. Without You is not to fast, not to slow, but has a hint of early Mad Caddies. Souls For Sale and Pyramid Scheme are over-the-top catchy... in a good way. Backyard and Today both remind me of the Duck and Cover era. Only two problems. One: the quiet build up to the first track is a bit too long and too quiet (darn near silent). Two: the album is far too short. Other albums seemed longer to me. Or maybe I just can't get enough of this CD!!
