First of all, this is an awesome CD. I know it's just an EP, but it's a great one. The best thing about the CD (nay, Crystal Method in general) is the sheer amount of layers in their songs, and the complex beats they jam with. Track 1 is great, but it's kind of mainstream. Track 2 is supposedly a mix of the same thing, but is COMPLETELY different, and totally chill. Tracks 3,4, and 6 are all completely original, incredible sounding, and immensely layered. Track 5 I could actually do without, but just because it's not as good in contrast with the rest. This review also comes with an obligatory rave for Vegas. Get it.

Keep Hope Alive takes all of the best, most exciting elements from Crystal Method's Vegas, and cranks up the volume. All of the fast, trippy action heard on the full album is here, but only with higher intensity. Any fan of Vegas is going to find themselves right at home with this single.

The rest of the disc is lame but ohhh, the dubelicious groove spanish fly mix track FIVE -- a slow, dark and sexy groove caressed with spanish vocals a la femme ... buy it for that!! ((unless of course you ONLY want electronica you can dance to))

I already owned Vegas but I bought this CD mainly because it had More and the live version of Now Is The Time. I'm really glad I did because I love listening to this CD along with Vegas. However, I could probably live without track 5 because it's basically the same beat over and over without much change but it's still fun to listen to. TCM plays really fast techno/rock kind of music and is great to dance to and just get into the beat. I mainly got interested in TCM after hearing Keep Hope Alive, More, Now Is The Time(olympic mix) and Busy Child from the fifa 98 soundtrack, so I knew that I had to get Vegas. If you love techno than buy this CD and Vegas. TCM ROCKS!!!!

Crystal Method rocks. However, the only really good song on here is #1, "Keep Hope Alive." It's awesome, but the version on their CD "Vegas" is even better. (If you're looking for the version of "Keep Hope Alive" from the opening scene of the movie Replacement Killers, it's on "Vegas.") The rest of the songs on this CD are not too bad. I would suggest you buy Vegas instead of this CD, and if you really like the song "Keep Hope Alive," get this CD for a slightly different version of it.

The only reson this got 4 stars from me is because the song I was looking for wan't on this disk. After my second spin through, I really didn't care. This 12 inch jams. But be warned - go buy the album (Vegas) which I haven't done yet. Just buying this 12 inch will be like taking a bite of a friend's burger right after track practice - You'll be jonesing for much, much more. If you need to, wash this tidbit down with some Propellerheads or Chemical Brothers. Groove On, Assume The Motion.

well, to begin with, there are a few things you need to understand...the crystal method, although they may be embraced by pop culture, are 2 men with amazing talents...i have found that the album vegas is one of the least tiresome records i own...and i am a fan of literally every type of legitimate music there is. this single, despite what other reviewers have said, is a must for anyone who can't get enough of vegas. it shows totally new views of Keep Hope Alive, and also features Three Other New Tracks: Now Is The Time, More, and The Dubiliscious Groove. These aren't the ... rock songs that you'll find listening to "Tweekend", these are original, over the top old tracks, probably made during the recording of vegas. In my opinion, the new album, tweekend, is very weak and sappy...not living up to the time we had to wait for the follow up to vegas. i think that the crystal method would have been better to make this a bigger release (it's even on moonshine, a different, more respectable record label: what's with that?) The Crystal Method have plenty of remixes of various songs from vegas, and i think that if they'd released a collection of these, as they did with Keep Hope Alive, it'd come across as a much stronger record.
but what do i know?
i know that this EP is even better music to make out to than vegas...and if that doesn't sell you, then i don't know what will.

If you buy this CD for track 6 only ("Dubeliscious Groove"), it is worth the green. But tracks 2, 3, and 4 are also great remixes of previous TCM cuts. There are some fantastic, intelligently done grooves on those tracks. If you call yourself a TCM fan, or any kind of lover of boom 'n doom techno, then you gotta have this CD.
