More About the Author

[Visit Bill at http://billgiovannetti.com ]

Bill is the son of a hard working, middle class Italian/Hillbilly family (he says that lovingly) and the product of a Chicago public school education (he says that proudly). His upbringing in a small, fundamentalist church led him to an early decision to devote his life to God. It wasn't until young adulthood that he began to appreciate how much God was devoted to him.

Surrounded by the high energy and vivid personalities of an urban jungle, Bill received a street-level education on human nature. His early love of reading, his hunger for the Bible and theology, and his early struggles with legalism and self-worth form the foundation for Bill's writing. He also has a deep love of Chicago sports teams and Chicago pizza.

Bill entered full-time ministry at age 20 as a children's and youth pastor. He served for eight years before planting a church in Chicago and becoming its senior pastor. During that sixteen-year ministry, Bill finished his seminary degree, urban ministry training, and his doctorate. He met and married his wife, Margi, and started his family... two kids, two dogs, one hamster, and one fish that survived.

After a two-year stint as a suburban teaching pastor, Bill and his family headed to the snow-capped mountains and pristine lakes of northern California, where Bill serves as the senior pastor of a rapidly growing Church.

Bill has established a reputation for speaking to the mind in ways that touch the heart. He enjoys delivering God's Word with both depth and practicality. He aims to encourage instead of tear down. He strives to free others from guilt, shame, and legalism, and help them discover life and love through God's amazing grace.

Bill's favorite Bible verse is:
Thus says the LORD: "Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight," says the LORD.
(Jeremiah 9:23, 24, NKJV).

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome book! January 7, 2009
Format:Paperback
Bill Giovanetti has the gift of taking Biblical concepts and making them understandable for everyone. "Inner Mess" is witty, challenging and will make you think about that "other" side of your life. But, Bill does not just give general information, he goes further and gives solid Biblical and grace filled steps to evaluate your life and make the changes that are needed. This book will enrich your life and should be in every Christian's library (well marked up, at that. It would also make a great gift. You will read it and then read it again. It is that good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, powerful, "in your face" life changing TRUTH. January 1, 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Not for those who want an easy fix. This isn't a "self-help book".
This is a book that helps us understand why it has been so hard for us to change ourselves and then offers ways how to free up God's power to cause inner transformation. As a pastor/teacher of over ten years, I can't think of a book I would rather recommend to the Christian who really wants to change and grow...

5.0 out of 5 stars The conflict and growth of Christian life experience... February 20, 2009
Format:Paperback
Bill Giovanetti is an evangelical protestant pastor who provides the reader a balanced theological discussion within the context of contemprary story-telling narrative. He provides insight on the inner conflicts of human nature, and how critical believers must rely and depend on the grace of God.

In his book, Giovanetti carries the reader through a fictional story of bus travelers, each of whom boards the bus at periodic stops, and each of whom represents an aspect of fallen human nature. Giovanetti pauses between chapters, and provides insightful theological comments on the tension extent between the fallen human nature and the grace (and power) of God in the Christian life experience. The book culminates in the clash (or crash) of these characters in their interaction, and depicts with much drama the role and subsequent power of grace to prevail.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inner Mess February 9, 2009
Format:Paperback
This book is a winner. At last, a road map for navigating through life and suggestions on how to control all the little inner idiots, brats, pervs, control freaks etc. that lurk in us all. Through this book, you will learn to stop beating yourself up over those times when your inner mess rears its ugly head. Dr. Giovannetti uses humor, coupled with sound biblical teaching, to shine a light on the areas of ourselves we would rather not admit exist.

5.0 out of 5 stars favorite book of the year January 10, 2009
Format:Paperback
This book has transformed my life in ways that only the grace of God can. Finally a book that not only helps identify areas of our hidden "inner mess" but also gives extremely practical and biblical solutions in dealing with those areas that we thought were buried and yet resurface. You will walk away from this book with the renewed ability to live your life in freedom and with love. I've already handed out multiple copies of this book and have received positive and grateful responses.

Is WWJD really a doable lifestyle?
I believe years of church can make the Christian life clearer and doable, if that is the unselfish goal of the Church leaders. If the Leaders are only concerned with being able to stand around with puffy chests due to their "Position" in the Church, then we all might as well stay home... Read more
