Editorial Reviews

Review

Words can hardly describe the pleasure I feel in seeing clinicians like Drs. Pulde and Lederman succeeding in transforming the health of their patients. They are going out on a limb to save lives in a medical system that is too often hostile to simple nutritional solutions. If I were sick, if one of my loved ones were sick, these are the doctors I would trust. Take their advice and take back you health. And good luck to their detractors, for this book is impeccably researched yet accessible to any reader. --T. Colin Campbell, PhD, Author of The China Study

Matthew Lederman and Alona Pulde are the doctors of the future and their new book is a complete road map to the health and appearance you deserve. --John Mcdougall, MD, Founder of the McDougall Program

Keep it Simple, Keep it Whole is a must read by Drs. Alona Pulde and Matt Lederman. Their nutritional message for enduring disease free health is clear, precise, and well researched with excellent meals and practical suggestions. --Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr. MD, author of Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease

About the Author

Drs. Alona Pulde and Matthew Lederman are licensed medical physicians practicing nutrition and lifestyle medicine in Los Angeles, California. Their clinic, Exsalus Health & Wellness Center, empowers patients to achieve and maintain their optimum health physically, emotionally, and medically through a comprehensive, patient-centered approach. Alona and Matt are passionate promoters of nutrition and lifestyle medicine. They have participated in projects such as lecturing for the Cornell s Certificate Program in Plant Based Nutrition, films such as Healing Cancer and other documentaries (including one to be released in 2010 in which they are the physicians treating the patients followed in the film titles, Forks Over Knives), and answering nutrition and health questions for popular websites. They are currently collaborating with T. Colin Campbell on their next book, a follow-up to The China Study, addressing common and prevalent nutrition and lifestyle questions. Whether their medical practice is being spotlighted by a prominent lifestyle medicine organization or they are being touted as the medical practice of the future, it is clear that Drs. Pulde and Lederman are true patient advocates.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep it Simple, Keep it Whole January 22, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I learned about the authors from a documentary screening for "Forks Over Knives" coming out March 2011. This new area of medicine called - Lifestyle doctors, really got my attention. As a nurse, a simple look around tells me we are doing something basically wrong. Our diabetes, obesity, hypertension rates are through the roof. As Americans we always seem to be pointing our finger at someone else to blame for our condition...when in fact changing our daily drug use (by that I mean our daily food) could make such an improvement in our health. That plus regular exercise and you have almost miraculous results. I have been moving into the "Keep it Simple" eating style slowly, and am not always on tract. But after so many years of standard American cooking I find this to be easier to shop and prepare for. Since we have the teeth and digestive tract of an herbivore, a plant based diet makes a lot of sense. I liked how simple and repetitive the book is- I think that helps most readers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quick Read - Broken down just enough September 12, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
After seeing the movie Forks Over Knives I purchased this book to learn more. I appreciated the format which gives information with data to back it up and then at the end of each chapter the take home points. There are appendices in the back of the book to help implement your own plan. I read thru the book in a few hours and took notes on the areas I wanted to return to. The authors know this is a hard sell to some people and truly seem to care about the readers success and offer different methods and tips. I am going to use this plan and see how it goes for 30 days and then see how I feel and move on from there. The recipes and shopping lists in the back will be helpful for planning meals.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book for eating plant strong
I chose a 4 rating because there is a lot of repetition of what I have already learned. It is interesting and gives food plan and recipes.
