More About the Author

Dr. Florence Comite is a noted endocrinologist, a graduate of Yale University School of Medicine; she was an Associate Clinical Professor on the Yale faculty for 25 years, and the founder of Women's Health at Yale. Dr. Comite completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology, incorporating training in Medicine, Pediatrics, Gynecology and Andrology, at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development at NIH. Dr. Comite has served on numerous advisory councils and committees with the NIH, the Egyptian Ministry of Health, the International Spa Association, and the Institute of Medicine, and is currently a member of the Age Management Medicine Group, conference-planning committee, Independent Doctors of New York, and the Physician Scientific Society as well as Alpha Omega Alpha, and numerous scientific associations across multiple disciplines. As a physician and entrepreneur, Dr. Comite is widely sought after as a consultant in men's health, women's health, the spa industry, e-health, start-up companies and related businesses.

Dr. Comite won the Salk award for original research at Brooklyn College at CUNY, the Louis Welt Award at Yale Medical School, and has been the recipient of multiple awards for original research throughout her career. She has published extensively in peer review literature, with articles in the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, among others. Her most recent scientific abstract in June 2013 focused on male andropause, entitled: "Hormonal Expression of Androgen Deficiency in Aging Men (ADAM)," the findings were presented at the Endocrine Society. In October, Rodale published her book for men, Keep It Up: The Power of Precision Medicine to Conquer Low T and Revitalize Your Life.

Dr. Comite's New York City practice, ComiteMD, is leveling a substantial philosophical and clinical challenge to mainstream medicine. In this precision age management practice, Dr. Comite designs personalized programs based on customizing a "health portfolio" - which incorporates unique aspects for each person based on a myriad of variables such as lifestyle, metabolism, hormonal and genetic factors - in conjunction with evidence-based medicine to avert the challenges of aging. Dr. Comite and her team, partner with women and men to manage menopausal and andropausal shifts in health, allowing them to keep their edge and regain their vitality while proactively preventing or reversing disease. Dr. Florence Comite has been a leader in the evolution of this emerging field for over two decades, and is driven to find the best path to extend the health span for each unique human being to live life well.

The book is full of information and data. I found it somewhat bias towards hormone therapy being a silver bullet, but I still learned more about how or body uses different food sources and some insights around appropriate supplements to use.

Keep It Up is a well written book that debunks the hype and fear around hormone therapy. I'm a client of Dr. Comite's, so I have the luxury of having lived this advice for the past 12 months. Her methods work, and this book is a great primer for any man feeling the effects of low-testosterone. But it's more than just T. Dr. Comite promotes what she calls "Precision Medicine", and that's exactly what makes her method so powerful. This book explains what Precision Medicine means, and why it's so essential that every man press their doctor for a higher standard of care. Dr. Comite's book takes you through all the various aspects of personalized medicine, to help you get a holistic picture of your health. Your typical doctor will never go as deep as her methods; you'll be amazed at how much you will learn from reading this book, and once you use it as a guide to changing your own health, you won't believe how much you will learn about your own body. And knowing is half the battle! The other half if action, and Dr. Comite's book gives you plenty of practical steps to taking control of your health once you fully understand where you presently stand.

Lifestyle changes and a testosterone prescription will make you feel like a new man? I've seen this on late night tv. The book description comes across as being able to boost low T through diet and exercise, but start reading and clearly it ain't happenin' without drugs.

Picked up this book for my husband. He's in his late 50's and pretty healthy, and I'd like him to stay that way. I started to skim through it, began carefully reading it, and didn't stop reading until the last page. I am now seriously hoping that Dr. Comite is writing or planning to write a companion volume for women. Keep It Up is packed with scientific and medical information that is eminently understandable to the non-scientists and non-MD's among us. Yes, a detailed discussion of hormones and the human endocrine system plays an important part in this book, but there is so much more: how the extensive lab tests she performs on a sample of your blood will draw a detailed picture of your future health, nutrition in general, vitamins and supplements in particular, exercise, and the critical importance of sleep to maintain health - an entire chapter on the connection between sleep and stress. Throughout her book, Dr. Comite carefully explains her brand of medical practice, Precision Medicine: the art and science of treating each patient as the singular individual he (or she) is. It's the way I've always wanted to be treated by my doctors but rarely have been. Dr. Comite claims that Precision Medicine is the future of medicine. Here's hoping.

Chock full information as to what a man should expect when dealing with health issues. A guide to help understand certain conditions that any man may encounter and how to go about dealing or even solving them. I also felt the book could have been a little shorter with fewer details and accolades.

This book does more than just enlighten you with mounds of accurate, up-to-date reliable information. It gives hope to men on the cusp of despair - even to those already in the pit of such despair - about the health issues it addresses that are so critical to a man's longevity, sense of wellbeing and overall enjoyment of life. Just the hope it provides in laying out diverse treatment options can return much joie de vivre to those already overwhelmed by a bewildering onslaught of symptoms and noticeable decline. Thank you, Dr. Comite, for restoring hope to the despondent. Thanks for re-empowering the emasculated real treatment options. Am so glad I bought this book!

I have been trying to be more pro-active with my health and this book's central concept regarding pro-active monitoring of blood chemistry, via Precision Medicine, is the right book for me at the right time.

I particularly enjoyed the first handful of chapters and will be using it as reference in the future. This book is pretty well balanced between basic wellness (sleep, eat right, exercise) and modern medicine, but it does have a pharmaceutical bias (statins are used). This is the balance I am working on and I appreciate this book's advice.

It is not 5 stars since the accompanying web site is poor. The book mentions additional content online, but I can't find it unfortunately.
