5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Own for Old School Hardcore Fans!!!
RKL was one of the first 'Hardcore' bands that I got into, back when I was intoduced to this style of music in the late 80's.

KEEP LAUGHING is pretty basic, straight forward Old School Hardcore: Hyper fast drumming, random intros of basslines, reasonably short songs, socially concious lyrics simply shouted out, and of course, simple, yet very catchy guitar...

rkl were one of the most gifted and dedicated bands in the punk rock scene, when they were young and naive they signed with mystic records they were payed nothing(1 large pizza actually) for their debut release. it sold extremely well and the band recieved nothing. now that 3 members of that band have passed away mystic(known throughout the scene as "mistake records") are trying to rip the band off again with this release, PLEASE WAIT ON THIS PURCHASE, the families of vocalist jason sears, drummer bomer, and former drummer derrick plourd and the remaining members of the band are in the process of securing profits from this release for the families of the deceased. mystic records suck, they rip off bands ask NOFX.
thanks and remember.... KEEP LAUGHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RKL was one of the first 'Hardcore' bands that I got into, back when I was intoduced to this style of music in the late 80's.

KEEP LAUGHING is pretty basic, straight forward Old School Hardcore: Hyper fast drumming, random intros of basslines, reasonably short songs, socially concious lyrics simply shouted out, and of course, simple, yet very catchy guitar riffing. Lots of short little guitar solos, too. Nothing really all that ground breaking, but they definatly had their own sound. Another good thing was that they did not have that Macho Tough Guy attitude that comes across in a lot of Hardcore. I myself am a drummer, and I used to listen to this record over and over and over, listening to Bommer's kit bashing, and then trying to play it myself.

If you are into stuff like BLINK 182, SUM 41, GREEN DAY, GOOD CHARLOTTE and all that other radio friendly so called 'Punk', I really don't think you will dig RKL. This was true, basic, straight-to-the-point Hardcore from back in the day, when it wasn't trendy to be punk.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Nardcore's finest: RKL, January 11, 2004

This is some of the best, old school punk that Nardcore has to offer. The songs: Lies, U.S. Steel, Adolescent Death, and No respect make the CD woth it alone. Then there's more.

If you like old school, hardcore punk that you'r probably not familiar with, then Buy it. I have many RKL cd's and this one is my favorite.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pot head Punk Rock, November 22, 2008
This review is from: Keep Laughing (Audio CD)
You can tell by the songs, these guys loved to smoke weed. That being said, they wrote some classic songs. Fast and catchy, RKL were early contemporaries to NOFX and you can tell they had a lot of influence on each other. Ded Ted's is the best song on this record.....You gotta love RKL...

5.0 out of 5 stars easily standing the test of time......., March 9, 2004

The title says it all.....I had this back in 87 on vinyl, needless to say I just picked up my CD copy and Geez, these guys rule! This is some of the best 4 chord mastery ever, not to side step Jasons voice, because while the music was sick, it was the voice of Jason Sears that had everybody commanding his attention. If you don't believe me ask Joey Cape from Lagwagon who he intended to have him sing in his 1st band. Also, Fat Mike from NOFX, claimed RKL influenced him more than any other band back in the day. Even though the production wasn't the greatest, that couldn't hold back the energy of one of the greatests releases of punk rock.

This disc is a timeless representation of what REAL punk rock is and always intended to be.

While you may have not gotten to see them back in the day, it's not to late. Pick up this disc and play at a dirty rotten volume until your ears bleed & then go see them live.....they are back together with a slightly different line up playing shows mostly in the northern Cali area.
