Ordered a few days before Christmas from the States it was delivered just afterwards so I had time to immerse myself in it over the following week's holiday.
I spent 2 days curled up by the log fire with my dog whilst the UK suffered sub-zero temperatures. No walk for the dog just nuts, chocolates, turkey sandwiches and the book! I printed a series of detailed maps of Baja to plot the journey plus followed links to on-line photos and `You Tube' videos of places visited. It was an armchair involvement of the most degenerative sort (on my part) but it brought my spirits to life! How refreshing to see 2 bared souls sharing a common goal, rid of the `modern' clutter of `success' being driven by the number of cars lining the driveway of an antiseptic 5 bed house in a cul-de-sac of identical units, and enjoying a force of confused harmony! I enjoyed to whole journey so much that at 60 I'm looking to buy a canoe to do the Scottish lochs and wild camp there!

I have read all of the Verlen Kruger books and this was right up there with the others. It is a good read and Valerie presents the subject matter very well giving some insights to Verlen's character not found in the other books written about and by him. Quite an accomplishment by Valerie too! I recommend this book to you!
