5.0 out of 5 stars The ultimate guilty pleasure, February 16, 2004
This review is from: Keep It Turned on (Audio CD)
Rick Astley is one of those blokes you love or laugh at. I was always a casual fan and I sort of wrote him off after FREE. Recently, I picked up KEEP IT TURNED ON and found this guy just absolutely grooves. His voice remains a powerhouse and the snappy dance energy just pulses out of your car. It turned me on to Astley again and BODY & SOUL turned out to be equally underrated. This lad is a first rate crooner. He can belt them out with the best of them and he knows how to turn a sweet hook.
KEEP IT TURNED ON proved to me I'm still a fan and tracks like SLEEPING and WANNA BELIEVE prove once again you can believe in this guy's talent. Pure pop pleasure- guilty as charged!

To hear Rick coming back to singing was good news. This album highlights what made Rick a star in the 80's.Each an every song has something for everyone. There are songs that you have to listen again and again to appreciate it. i really didn't find any boring songs.I really love the ''Wanna believe you'' song. It really puts in the groove.I play it in the car and man i feel like flying!!.When i feel like listening to slow music then there is ''Full Of you'',''Don't ask'' and ''Miracle'' to keep me relaxed. Anyone who appreciates good music must not miss this one. This is really a legend in a making. I say i am really happy with this album.Way to go Rick!! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars His best album yet!, January 6, 2006
This review is from: Keep It Turned on (Audio CD)
This album was well worth the import price (over $40). I have all of Rick's albums and this is definitely my favorite. Not only does he have a wonderful voice (unlike all the 'cookie-cutter' singers out there now), he writes great songs (most singers don't/can't write music). This album has a great mix of slow and upbeat songs. I am especially surprised at the song "Romeo Loves Juliet", it's a slow ballad that shows off Rick's voice perfectly and ended up being my favorite song on the album. I highly recommend this album to anyone that likes Rick Astley's previous music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep it Turned ON !, January 8, 2002

It has been over 8 years since Rick Astley's last album, "Body & Soul". This latest album release has been worth the wait and Rick hasn't dissappointed this fan. Starting out with "Sleeping", Rick shows that he has not lost anything in the many years that he has been away. In this album he has been able to keep up with the times and demonstrate that not only can he sing but also shows that he's a talented writer as well. In my opinion this collection of well penned songs range from fun, to funky to feel good ! I suggest that if you are a Rick Astley fan you MUST buy this CD... Even if you're not you still should by it and experience this wonderful talent, you'll be happy that you did.

I am in shock and disappointment that this cd will never be released here in the states. It is one of the strongest pop albums in recent years. There are plenty of dancefloor ready songs (Sleeping, Wanna Believe You, Let's Go Out Tonight). There are plenty of ballads (Breathe, Don't Ask, Romeo Loves Juliet) The title track has to be one of my favorites on the cd. It is upbeat and optimistic. It puts a smile on my face everytime I press repeat. I has a great message of not dwelling in the past and live your life your way. I highly recommend this cd for anyone that loves pop music, not just Rick Astley fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!, September 17, 2004
This review is from: Keep It Turned on (Audio CD)
OMG...it was SO great to hear his voice again, in NEW music! I just received mine in the mail and put it in...the first few notes were magical. Granted, I've been suffering from withdrawal of Rick. LOL

I definitely recommend this CD to any of his previous fans and any new fans of pop! He still knows how to groove! His voice does it all!

5.0 out of 5 stars He's Baaaaaaaack!!!!!!!!!!!, April 4, 2002

It's about time this Icon from the 80's comes back to the music he was born for. This album marks a great return for a very missed artist. Starting with an incredible dance hit "Sleeping" , I can only hope it hits here in the US. Being mostly an upbeat album with a few very strong ballads like "Don't Ask" and "Breathe". Here are my picks for singles:

1. Sleeping - This is the first single and a smart one to introduce him to the dance audience for the new millennium.
2. Don't Ask - A great ballad that would be a great addition to A/C radio here in the US.
3. Keep It Turned On - Straight forward POP, very 80'sish, and a PERFECT SUMMER song! Turn it up!
4. What You See Is What You Don't Get - White boy has black woman attitude. You gotta love it! Another great Dance song.
5. Breathe - An awesome boy loses girl and can't get over her song. Very well done.

Welcome back Rick!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rick's Back and On Top of the World!!!, December 25, 2001

In his latest album release, Rick Astley doesn't dissappoint this fan. Starting out with "Sleeping", Rick shows that he has not lost anything in the many years that he has been away. In this album he has been able to keep up with the times and demonstrate that he is one of the best male artists in the field today. Writing all of the song's, Rick also shows that is also a talented writer as well. In my opinion the best songs on this album are "Breathe", "Don't Ask", "Keep it Turned On", and "Full of You". I suggest that if you are a Rick Astley fan you MUST buy this CD...Even if you're not you still should by it. You'll be happy that you did. And of course KEEP IT TURNED ON

5.0 out of 5 stars It can't get any better than this!, February 3, 2007
This review is from: Keep It Turned on (Audio CD)
Trying to get this album is like trying to get to the Holy Grail, but it's definitely worth all the aggravation. I have always considered "Whenever You Need Somebody" my most favorite Rick Astley album, but after hearing KITO I'm starting to think this is really his best so far. It was so good to hear Rick do some dance tracks again... that's definitely his strong point right there. "Sleeping" is a fun song to dance to and an excellent choice for it to be the first single. "Wanna Believe You", "Keep It Turned On", and "Lets Go Out Tonight" are awesome upbeat tracks, but I have to say that "What You See Is What You Don't Get" is my most favorite dance song... I guess it's because I can totally relate to it. The ballads on here are truly sweet and romantic. "Don't Ask" and "Full Of You" are really beautiful and he totally sings his heart out. One major thing that I did notice on this project is that Rick really tries to break out of the baritone range which he's most known for. On this album he sings a little higher which is an awesome thing. It definitely shows that he has a very versatile vocal range. The production and arrangement on this album is perfect and it fits Rick's style so well... it's just a great mix of Pop, Dance, and Adult Contemporary. I'm truly impressed! This album is a must have. I know it's hard to get, but don't give up... it's definitely worth the trouble ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep It Turned On... yes, you will with this disc!, December 27, 2004
By
This review is from: Keep It Turned on (Audio CD)
Rick Astley has all but been forgotten in my CD collection...until I got my hands on this disc. This collection of songs fits well in today's music and Rick's voice is as strong as ever within each track. From the title track to the first single "Sleeping" to "Let's Go Out Tonight" and on to some of the ballads on the album, "Romeo Loves Juliet", "Breathe", "Full of You", this is a great disc to spin several times over. It's unfortunate this great album wasn't released in the US as I could imagine listening to several tracks on both pop and adult contemporary radio. Don't doubt on purchasing this album if you're a Rick fan or even a fan of pop/AC music...you will "Keep It Turned On."
