A Cool Yule Tool. Fix holiday lights with a squeeze of a trigger. The Light Keeper PRO is the complete tool for fixing miniature light sets! A must for Christmas time. This all-in-one tool fixes most light sets in seconds by addressing the damaged bulb at the plug or at the socket. The LED Head Light helps visibility in light repair. The Audible Continuity Detector traces the circuit to the point of interruption. The 3-way bulb puller helps release tight bulbs from their sockets. The Bulb & Fuse Tester tests both indoor and outdoor mini lights. There is a spare bulb compartment in the handle for storage of extra bulbs and fuses. Three (3) 1.5-Volt Batteries are included. Patent pending. The trigger send a pulse that will activate a defective shunt; This fixes the circuit allowing the current to flow. Simply plug your Light Keeper PRO into the light set, pull the trigger and a pulse goes to the bulb, fixes the shunt and allows the light set to work correctly. The light keeper pro is not intended with led, rope or light set/sets with control boxes.

Okay, admit it: you read the package, mix in even a basic understanding of electricity, and wonder why anyone would fall for such an outlandish claim. Surely, you can't fix a lightbulb by passing more electricity through it, no matter the "shape" of the pulse!

This DOES work, though, and it's because Christmas light bulbs have long been designed to work this way. Every bulb in the light set you own has a "shunt" which is supposed to "melt through" when the filament burns out. And, fairly often, it works just fine. However, every once in a while the shunt doesn't melt through given the "normal" voltage difference across the bulb, and so the circuit (for the 50 lights in that set or portion of the set) is lost. That's when not just one lgith goes out (which you might often not even notice), but the entire section of lights turns off.

That's where the "pulse" fixes things. It provides a low-current, high-voltage difference across the bulbs, which is sufficient to melt the shunts in any burnt-out bulb while not affecting functioning bulbs. Then, you scan for the bulb (or two) which is/are still burnt out, and replace just those. Those are the ones which have been burnt out from the start, but at least one of whose shunts had not melted through.

Now, that said, where can this process, and thus product, fail? For one, if there are a huge number of burnt-out bulbs in your chain and they ALL failed to melt through their filaments, it is likely that the device won't be able to work through them.

Further, if you have a *loose* bulb in the set, this will do nothing at all for you. You'll need to use the current detector (also a part of this device) to scan along the wire to see where continuity is lost, and replace that bulb or try just reseating it.

This item is more expensive than others in its category, but it works great! I was able to fix multiple strings of lights in a matter of minutes instead of getting frustrated and throwing them out like I used to. I liked it so much I bought one for 2 of my family members as well. Just take one of the lights out of the dead string, and plug the empty socket into a receptacle on the front of the device. Pull the trigger about 10-15 times and all of the working lights light up making it easy to identify and replace the dead ones. After trying 2 other similar devices that did not work at all, this was a great find and I highly recommend it.

When looking at the description of this item, I too doubted that it could work the way it said it would. After all, how could a little plastic gun possibly fix the broken pre-lit trees in my garage, or the half burned out strands of lights littering my Christmas Tupperware just waiting to be thrown away? And by the rules of natural law, as well as everything we know about science - it can't. We all know from years of experience that a broken light strand is totally useless.

The designer of this plastic gun therefore did what none of us were willing to. He made a deal with Satan himself. I can only imagine the price he paid for this hellborn contraption that runs on the blood of angels.

An effort was made to make its function more palatable - the instructions talk about "fuses" and "shunts" but I'm pretty sure the plastic housing is empty outside of the dark energies swimming within.

What matters is that it works. I stood in shocked awe as a pre-lit strand that shut off five years ago jumped back to life. The piles of lights I was planning to through out have also been resurrected and look brand new.

So long as you don't mind profiting from a Faustian bargain - this thing really does work. And it is amazing.

This is not a joke or a paid promotion. I am literally writing to say, "I tried this, and it works like gangbusters for me - maybe you, too?" Here is my story.

My wife and I have a pre-lit Christmas tree, and we spend HOURS trying to find burned out tree lights one by one by swapping out bulbs in ONE section at a time. Our tree is the type where if more than two bulbs burn out, it goes out. Not like I notice two bulbs burned out, so I'm always glaring at unlit sections when that third bulb blows. It's a nice looking tree, and we've grown to like it, so we put up with the work.

I remember dad swearing at the lights while changing bulbs as a kid. I'd say, "Daaaad! No swearing - it's Christmas." He'd say, "Christmas, my butt!! I hate these darned lights!!" [Spoiler Alert] I found out there was no Santa, and that Christmas wasn't my dad's butt. It was a push. [End Alert]

We saw this device on the internet, and bought it at a local department store. We laughed and said this is too easy, so it couldn't *possibly* work. Nope, not gonna happen. I'd be just as well to throw dollar bills in the paper shredder, and unfortunately, the shredder doesn't support coins. BUT the department store can have it back one day later if it's a dud (with receipt), so it was worth a try. I was willing to try ANYTHING after going bulb to bulb and NOT getting one section to light (how does the tree know where to keep moving the burned out bulb so I can't find it? it's total crap that it knows how to do that). I replaced the fuse twice KNOWING that a burned out light string can't blow a fuse a second time because it actually has to light up FIRST before it can burn something out. Stupid lights - they don't understand electricity!!
