5.0 out of 5 stars Tommy's Gift to The Lovers and Players of the Hammond B3, December 25, 2005
This review is from: Keeper of the "B" (Audio CD)
Tommy Young is a master of the Hammond organ, using that wonderful instrument and its sound to entertain us, teach, and do a little preaching, too. Young's message is plain and clear in the title track, "Keeper of the B". He loves the B3 and is helping to teach the music world and artists how to keep it alive for the future. The songs are mostly Tommy's, but he has included a fine version of The Meters' "Cissy Strut" and an amazing take on a tune written by none other the Jackie Gleason (yes, that Jackie Gleason of TV fame), "Melancholy Serenade". If you're a fan of Jackie you'll recognize this as his theme song. Tommy has transformed this rare gem into an excellent jazz piece. Andy Timmons plays guitar on a number of these tracks; I really enjoyed his work on this recording. Highly recommended.

Jerry said it pretty well....this is a good jazz organ recording.
Great guitar, it swings, it has variety, it has everything you
need in a good jazz record, in fact, in any good piece of music.

I just got this CD. Tommy Young is an excellent organist. This CD has many songs on it with a great variety of styles. If you like jazz organ music, you've got to add this to your collection. I always enjoy new jazz organists.
