This is a terrific book. I don't normally like fantasy and science fiction that much, but this book may get me to convert. The plot was wonderful, the characters (even the aliens) were realistic, familiar and one has no problem identifying with their dreams and desires. Let me warn you though, the sex in this book is hot (no pun intended). This is not a science fiction that drops a quick mention of the act and move on. This may require a cold drink on hand to help you finish the book. Now run out to your computer and buy this book, buy it yesterday. And since I can't let a book go completely unscathed, if there is a problem to be found, I would have hoped men had a harder time with labor than Flame did. But that is just me.

I urge all of you who are into interracial romance between wm/bf that deals with sci-fi to pick this up. This one of the better written novels to come out of the Ellora's Cave stable. Ms. Burke is a wonderful writer who lets the reader sweat it out between the tension bet. the red-haired alien Flame and the heroine Kendall. The sex scenes come later on in the book, but oh, they are so worth the wait. Once it starts it doesn't stop. Ms. Burke has the ability to be able to write erotica that is not graphic yet still leaves you panting in lust. And this is coming from a woman who enjoys reading graphic sex scenes!

The other reviewers are right, you should have picked this one up yesterday. Surprised there are not more reviews for this one. This is wonderful storytelling describing a beautiful love story, suspense, betrayal, etc. You name it, Ms. Burke has it and delivers it beautifully.

If your looking for a summer time read which is romantic, erotic, and a light twist on the usual fare, this is it. The setting has an ordinary contemporary girl-next-door heroine put into a topsy turvy situation. The handsome hero is a sci-fic fantasy man, who controls fire and has babies. The turn about with a submissive man trained to serve women and bear their children makes for a change of pace from the usual romance. He's also in danger and in need of rescuing by the heroine. The plot is action filled, the romance is light hearted and the sex is heavy.

I read this book in two and a half days only because I had to work and couldn't sit and read all day.When I finished, I started reading it again! This was one of the best reads I've had in a very long time. It was a different and interesting story,funny and the sex...If only sex could be like that in real life! I can not reccomend this book enough! BUY IT!

This book recently came out in paperback(August 2007) and the cover is aweful! The cover model is blond when the main male lead has red hair,in reference to his power to control fire.But PLEASE do not let that stop you from buying the book. It is an absolutely fantastic read!It is in my pile of books that I go back and re-read every few months, it's that good.

It's difficult to even get through this book...there seems to be a significant grammatical error at least every 5 sentences. Bad punctuation makes it difficult to read the proper flow of a sentence. Even worse than that, frequently an incorrect word all together is used that makes no sense in the context of the sentence. There also seem to be discrepancies in the story line. Did this book ever even see an editor?

Ms. Burke's books offerings are always fresh and unique. A hot alien who can give birth? WTH but it works! That's one of the things that I like about Ms. Burke's work. You'll never pick up a book of hers and see the same old rehashed storyline. She's funny from beginning to end and she knows how to pull together any loose srings so that all her books read like a stand alone even though this one has a sequel. Be prepared for a wild ride and hot love scenes.

When I first read the synopsis for this story, I was excited. I mean two of my favorite themes (IR & science fiction romances) where put together. This story had everything it needed not only as an erotic novel but just a really good romance novel in and of itself, yet the writer fell short of what is promised. First of all there were intirely two many typo's which made it hard to follow the story (I was unsure if it was intentionally done or not) and the female lead in this story who was portrayed as a strong black woman didn't come off that way. As a matter of fact I found that as a black woman myself i couldn't relate to the heroine of this tail...I know that it's science fiction but half of what makes a good sci-fi read is it's believability to the readers... ms. burke failed to recreate her world that she invisioned in her mind on paper....

I know your wondering why if i didn't enjoy the book did i give it three stars well........
#1. Like i said this book does have the ingredients of being an excellent read.....unfortunately it doesn't come out that way.
#2. The secondary characters mentioned in this book aren't focused on a whole lot but it does arouse the mind to the idea that they may have a story in the works (hopefully with more depth)
#3. I really enjoyed the hero in this book... I just wish that he wasn't so two dimentional

I really wish i could've have loved this book...I really wanted to honest but fortunately/unfortunately I need more than cute babies and hot sex scenes.....to be a good story. I also believe that it was too short to convey all that is promised on the back cover...the story was too quick and i was left with the what the f^&5 feeling you get when your unsatisfied.

So if you just want hot sex scenes where the characters have no depth and you really can't understand why they're so in love in the first place,or you just got money to waste by all means purchase this book......better yet see if they have it in the library or a thrift store....you'll get more for your buck then.....

This was a good read. It was different becuase there was defintaly role reversal here. The female was the alpha in this case. It was sweet and you fell in love with Flame.

I love this book. The best part it is interracial sci-fi story. The plot is little wild. Flame escape from is planet because his wife..no his mistress who was murder. Someone is trying to kill him and his unborn children. Escape and land on earth. Kendall find him on her front poarch. Flame must find a way to protect his children and his Kendall from females of Planet Testrios. I like the plot. It was different and the sex was off the chain. Oh ladies and genltemen they don't call him Flame for nothering. Ms. Burke also wrote his son story Spark in Testrios II. It is ebook find it on [...]. It is not in paperback yet. Now if Ms. Burke would release Flame's daughter Ember. It been waiting over five years for that story. I got to see a black president before I could read Ember's story. I am praying she will release this book this year. I digrees I apologize. Back to the book I love it and its fun book to read.

I have read this book before. I enjoyed the characters very much, it was well written and the story line kept you wanting to read the next page.
I consider a book good when I can remember the plot of the story and the characters in the story. It's what I would call a keeper.
