Review

Leena Worthington-Jax wants to learn more about the Apostles that established the religion of Sabal on her planet of Xan. An archeologist, Leena is intrigued by the mysterious symbols she has found on ancient relics and hopes to learn what they mean. When she receives an invitation to join the Caucus, she accepts, believing that the governing body of her world, the Synod, knows the secrets she wants to understand. On the day she is to be inducted into the Caucus, a sacred horn disappears and it seems that one of the members of the Synod is responsible. Since Leena is the only one who can authenticate the horn, she is put in charge of the investigation. She must recover the horn before disaster strikes Xan. Since her mission is a dangerous one, Leena seeks out Taurin Rey Niris to accompany her. He is a strange man that she knows little about, but he seems capable of protecting her. In order for them to travel together without compromising Leena, they are wed by Leena's brother Bendyk who is also involved in the investigation. It is supposed to be a marriage in name only that will be annulled when they return with the horn. Although Leena is troubled by Taurin's lack of faith in her god Lothar, she is also attracted to her mysterious protector. Taurin agrees to help Leena find the sacred horn because he hopes she can help him decipher the ancient symbols. He believes these symbols are the key to his past. As their search progresses, Taurin begins to wish their marriage could be a real marriage, but he knows that the differences between them are too great to hope for a future with Leena. Taurin thinks she will hate him when she learns the secrets he keeps about his past. Their journey to find the horn turns into an adventure filled with villains, deadly creatures, unknown dangers-- and loveFascinating! 5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, very enjoyable!!, January 1, 1999

This review is from: Keeper of the Rings (Paperback)
There are many mysteries in the Keeper of the Rings just waiting to be unveiled. Nancy Cane did a marvalous job of creating her fictional world. One of my favorites scenes involled something that I can only compare to a cross between Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and the last scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Keeper of the Rings is an edge of the seat ride as Leena and Tauring undercover a treasonist operation that is in directly leading back to Tauring himself. There are many secrets in Taurin's past that are slowly fed to the reader until nearly the last chapters. Questions may taunt the reader...like Why does Taurin cover his head when it gets darker? Where is Yllon? and what are the signifacants of the rings that circle Taurin's arm? The novel is well worth the read, so pick it out and settle back you are infore a ride you won't soon forget!!

4.0 out of 5 stars On a planet far away..., August 7, 2001

He was shrouded in black when Leena first laid eyes on him-his face shaded like the night. At first the lovely young archaeologist thought Taurin to be a farmer-but this man was no simple agrarian. With a commanding presence and an impressive temper, Taurin was an obvious choice to be Leena's protector on her quest for a stolen sacred artifact. Curious about his mysterious background, and increasingly tempted by his tantalizing touch, Leena could only pray that their dangerous journey would be a success. If not, explosive secrets would be revealed and a passion unleashed that would forever change their world.
