This time around it is the guy who has a vision of a better life for the tribe and has to fight for it tooth and nail. Origional and fresh, dose,'t quite compare to "Children of the Ice", but it still is a very good read.

I love books like this. I have read Jean Auel and enjoyed some and found some to be cumbersome. Have also read most books by Kathleen O'Neal Gear. This book is entertaining. It is not necessarily completely historically accurate but not so much as to be totally distracting. I definitely would buy more books by this author. When I read the first one I immediately bought the second one and kept right on reading on my Kindle.

This author did a great job relaying the structure of a specific tribe and how their makeup may have changed as their environment changed. She brought a second tribe in later in the book that wasn't as thoroughly developed but wound up being just as important to the two main characters. I loved the price but experienced a little wide eyed sticker shock when I looked for the next book. Boy that's sure a big jump. Doubtful that I'll make that purchase.
