5.0 out of 5 stars Chuck Pyle's best work!, February 2, 2000

I've owned Chuck Pyles "Step by Step" album for several years and have enjoyed it much; so when I found out he had other works, I thought I'd give another a try. "Keeping time by the River" is even better than "Step by Step". If you like country music or folk music, this is an album for you. If you want to try a new artist and are looking for mellow, relaxing music where you can understand all the words, this is the album for you. The title song is one of my favorites...you can actually picture a Colorado River in all it's beauty...and understand the message of the song. The "Remember Song" just makes me laugh! You can't go wrong with Chuck Pyle's music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your soul will sing when you listen to Chuck Pyle!, April 9, 2002
This review is from: Keepin' Time By The River (Audio CD)
We first listened to Chuck Pyle from the title cut of the "Endless Sky" CD on NPR Radio and we were hooked. The melody haunted us and the lyrics were etched into our thoughts. We haven't been this excited by an artist before. "Keepin' Time By The River" is full of whimsical fun music in "Other Side of the Hill" and "Sedona Ramona" and there are songs that literally brought tears to my eyes for the love and understanding they convey. The guitar music will appeal to anyone and everyone.. it "brings it down home". Chuck Pyle's voice is clear and comfortable.. it is a voice that was born to be heard and easy to understand. We are very eclectic in our musical likes.. enjoying Andrew Lloyd Weber to Kiri Te Kanawa to Sugar Ray to JaLo to Jimmy Buffet and even a few country western singers like Brad Paisley, but to us, the consumate voice.. the completely satisfying music is Chuck Pyle and "Keepin' Time By The River" is a great CD.. don't forget his new release and "Endless Sky".. he just keeps getting better!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptionally warm, friendly, easy listening acoustic music, October 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Keepin' Time By The River (Audio CD)
Chuck Pyle's latest CD captures the essence of his easy going and sincere stage presence with a combination of serious and humorous songs done in an acoustic folk/country style. These are singer-songwriter compositions that you have to really listen to the lyrics to fully appreciate. The productions are not overdone and yet feature some of the best musicians and backup vocals by such noteworthy folks as Jerry Jeff Walker. I heard Chuck live at the Tumbleweed Music Festival in Richland, Washington in September, 1999. Don't miss a chance to see him in person and don't miss this CD, it is a real gem!

5.0 out of 5 stars Both Feet on the Road, September 21, 2000
By
John P. Hall (Evergreen, Colorado United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Keepin' Time By The River (Audio CD)
To quote one of Chuck's favorite bumper stickers, he has both feet squarely on the road and nary a twitch toward the ditch and that's a situation where the odds are against you. As he points out, those odds are two to one! He is the rare composer and singer who can beautifully relate to and forgive the "Boulderite," whatever that is, the "folkies" at Swallow Hill, National Western Stock Show fans by having a ball on the guitar and east side of the stage at the Grizzly Rose during the stock show with Chris or introducing a PBS feature on Colorado with his vocal composition. His songs are ageless, his lyrics intellectually challenging - you have to really think them through and even after you do, sometimes you're still not sure where you've just been - and his voice subtle. You may not be able to push a river, but Chuck Pyle has carried more than his fair share of water. And, Second Fiddle ain't bad either! Ranch Boss, Everhardt/Herzman Ranch - Evergreen, Colorado
