I got the book the other day because I've been wanting to work some more exercise into our lives and get my seven-year-old to be more active so she's a healthier adult. This is just the game plan I needed to do that. Len has doable suggestions for ways to work exercise into the day, tips on eating habits and sleep and age-related guidelines for all three areas. There are examples of warm ups, stretches and cool downs and the proper way to do them to help protect from injury.

What a wonderful tool to help grow a child! Thanks for the great book, Len, I can't wait to get my daughter started on a healthier road!

The timely book by Len Saunders, "Keeping Kids Fit," is more than an instruction manual --- it is an imperative for our nation as we face an unprecedented problem. Statistics show our kids are fat and getting fatter and are now, for the first time in history, facing adult health problems brought on by sedentary living and poor nutrition.

As someone who works in public housing I see all around me kids whose families struggle to put food on the table, yet are obese! What is happening here to cause such a paradox? I think the roots of the problem are well-documented and I also think the solution is far more simple than we even know. We need to feed our kids more nutritious food and get them away from the screens and moving again.

But what sounds so simple seems to be so hard to achieve! I applaud First Lady Michelle Obama for taking on childhood obesity as her cause. Her message definitely brings awareness. But after awareness there must be action. That is where Len Saunders comes in. His book is a call to action and a guide that anyone can understand and use. It covers every important topic in clear, concise ways and offers multiple solutions without being overly complex. He tackles the "why" along with the "how" and there is no advice contained in the book that can't be achieved by anyone, regardless of their age or race or socioeconomic status.

I love the use of "Top Ten" lists, which serves to make re-referencing the advice so simple. I love that he doles out the responsibility evenly between the kids, the parents, the schools and the community. I love that he does not blame or lecture, just gives solid advice backed by research but light on boring statistics.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a simple, doable approach to solve this problem. I'd like to give this book to every one of our public housing families! Actually, I'd like to give this book to every family I know. And then watch what happens...

This was the exact book I have been looking for. Other books have such difficult terminology in them, and I really appreciate the simple language in this book, so "us" non professionals can follow it! I had met the author last year at a covention, and he has a genuine passion for helping children stay healthy. His book is well written, and full of great information. The sample menus and healthy snacks are great, and all the book topics helped my children in all areas, whether getting proper sleep, hydration, exercise, and nutrition. A must book for any parent! This book is not for obese children, but for all types of children.

I have had this book for a few months, and wanted to wait before giving a review. It is truly an amazing book! Easy to read, and my child and I have had so much success reading it together. I would recommend this book to anyone with a child. Funny, it is not only for children who may be overweight, but for any child. It has easy to follow recipes and exercise plans, as well as covering almost every topic needed by parents.
