5.0 out of 5 stars The Counterfeit's A Good Read February 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The Counterfeit has a very comfortable feel. One might be reading a Zane Grey novel, or perhaps one of Louis L'Amour's works. That's how pleasant it is to read this Tammie Clarke Gibbs' novel.

A young lady has vowed to get vengeance from a man who had seemed exciting and elegant, but had caused the death of her father and caused her to lose their farm. Add in the fact that her father had been an engraver with two plates for counterfeit currency not yet found, and the Secret Service was looking for the same bad man, and it begins to get interesting.

But that's not all. Turns out she doesn't know it, but her father had been working with the Secret Service to make things right, before his death.

And so the stage is set for her to dye her hair, and change her appearance, and set out to right some wrongs. But wait, don't forget romance. Can romance bloom when she mistakes an undercover Secret Service man for her nemesis and runs him down with her wagon on the way into town? Well, you'll have to read the book to see.

But you'll be glad you did.

The author, Tammie Clarke Gibbs, speaks to us at the conclusion of her book. As I've read from other authors, her characters develop a life of their own, she reports, as the novel progresses. She says that as she's writing, it seems as if they take charge of the direction the novel will go. I think one would have to BE an author to truly understand that, but it surely does make for believable characters. There is an integrity to Tammie Clarke Gibbs' work that is quite refreshing, I think.

This is one of those books that you just have to keep reading. The characters draw you in and the plot keeps you guessing until the very end. You'll get a taste of the old west and a great romance. Thumbs up to Mrs. Gibbs for another great read!

The characters were not believable, and he plot too thin. Not my type of story at all. Not worth reading.

2.0 out of 5 stars The Counterfeit
An ok story line but what really annoyed me was the incorrect spelling and punctuation throughout the whole book. Looking passed these obvious errors the book was readable.
