Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

She's pretentious without cause, loud without knowing, and thinks she's being helpful rather than domineering as she controls her husband's every move. Yes, it's Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced Bouquet by no one but her) and now fans of this British comedy can enjoy her over and over again on video. In the first of these three 28-minute episodes ("The Nautical Speaker"), Hyacinth, with husband Richard ever in tow, shanghais the vicar and his vehicle in a fruitless search for a randy commodore set to speak at her ladies luncheon club. Then it's off to the seashore with a church group of senior citizens, including her befuddled daddy, a carsick dowager, and an amorous pensioner in "Seaside Fun." The trio is completed by "Historical Pageant," in which volunteers for the church play mysteriously suffer a rash of illnesses among relatives when Hyacinth takes over. Never mind, her fanciful sister Daisy, her loafer of a brother-in-law Onslow, tart of a sister Rose and the bickering sister and brother-in-law team of Violet and Bruce come to her rescue--sort of. --Kimberly Heinrichs

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny!, June 5, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Keeping Up Appearances: Anybody But Hyacinth [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced Bouqet) demonstrates the unique hilarity that can only be found in British sitcoms. The process of keeping up appeearances always produces situations that leave Hyacinth completely embarassed. In spite of her mishaps, Hyacinth is quick to let one know that she 'knows her duty'.

5.0 out of 5 stars I AM ADDICTED, May 22, 2000
This review is from: Keeping Up Appearances: Anybody But Hyacinth [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Anybody But Hyacinth is wounderful. No matter which Hyacinth movie you buy you can't go wrong. I love all of the videos of "Keeping Up Appearances." I have all of the releases that are out. And watch it on PBS every week. I wish they would release the older shows even on TV. I am truly addicted to Hyacinth "Buckets" AH "Bouquet.
