In 1970, one out of ten American women developed breast cancer. Now it is one out of eight - and soon it will be one out of seven. It is a disease women dread. Yet physicians, who tell patients how to avoid heart attacks, have nothing to say about the prevention of breast cancer. By the time a cancer cell in the breast grows into a diagnosable breast cancer, usually 15 to 20 years have elapsed. During this long journey, the cancer is inhibited by many factors and stimulated by others. It is possible to enhance the inhibitors and diminish the stimulators to snuff out the tiny cancer, or at least, to delay its clinical appearance. This book provides the reader clear strategies to reduce the risk of breast cancer - strategies that are based not only on my experience as an oncologist, but also on an extensive review of scientific literature. These strategies consist of simple and natural measures: things to take and things to do, with little or no use of pharmaceuticals. My dream is to share this information with all women and their doctors with the hope that we can cut down the occurrence of this horrible disease.

Dr. Mahmud's book is a highly informative, documented, scholarly yet layman friendly book. The shame is that this book was not available 20-30 years ago so many women could be walking and living cancer free today.
The book is balanced in that it presents in a fair, objective manner, research on a variety of issues related to breast cancer. The book provides hope through practical suggestions and teachings, of how the FEAR of cancer so seemingly present in our society, may be minizized. Keeping aBrest: Ways to Stop Breast Cancer is not a one-time read, but for me and my family will serve as an on-going resource which relates not only to breast cancer, but provides teaching, guidance and direction for healthy living in all areas.

Dr. Mahmud presents in an easily understood manner simple measures you can incorporate in your daily life prevent breast cancer. I was very impressed by this book as the illustrations were very easy to follow and were backed by scientific evidence along with his experience as a practicing Oncologist. I highly recommend every woman read this book!
